High-End Beauty and Skincare Products That Are Worth the Investment

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Montclair chapter.

I like to save money whenever possible. I am always on the hunt to find affordable products that are excellent quality. While I am a huge proponent of looking my best for less, there are some products that I have yet to find a drugstore brand to match up to. Here are some products that are worth saving a little extra for!

The first two products are made by the skincare god Peter Thomas Roth. If you’re in the market for a high-quality face mask I suggest you purchase the Irish Moor Mud Mask. If you have a combination skin type like me, this will be perfect for you!  Not only does this mask help with acne, it also nourishes the skin. It retails for $58, but it also contains 9,000-year-old black moor mud, so I think the luxury price makes sense!

The second item by Peter Thomas Roth is the 24K Gold Prism Cream. It’s an all over illuminator and targeted highlighter. It’s so moisturizing, and gives a beautiful healthy glow anywhere you put it. It retails for $42; a hefty price but it contains colloidal gold that aims to firm and lift your skin and will have you feeling like the queen you are. A big tip to the girls who still can’t convince themselves to spend between 40 and 60 dollars on highlighter and a face mask, I suggest you purchase the gift sets that Peter Thomas Roth offers. You will spend less money overall and get way more product. It’s a no-brainer!

I have found that drugstore eyeshadows can’t match up to the quality of high-end eyeshadows. My personal favorite is Tarte’s Tartelette Amazonian Clay matte palette. This palette is mostly cool toned, which I have found is hard to find. Even though a lot of people try to stay away from cool tones, I think this palette is flattering for a wide variety of skin tones because of all the beautiful purples and browns it has. It retails for $46, and it is worth every dollar for its blendable and versatile capabilities.

If you’re searching for a high-quality body lotion that gives the right amount of moisture without leaving you greasy, I suggest purchasing the Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil. It retails for $35. A little bit goes a long way, and it will leave your skin feeling silky and smooth. There are a lot of scent options, and this brand often comes out with seasonal scents.

My last item is talked about so much in the beauty and skincare industry it’s probably cliche now, but it really is outstanding. The Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater is definitely the most affordable out of this selection but could potentially still make you raise an eyebrow at the price. You can find this between $7 and $14 on Amazon, which isn’t horrible and will make you feel so refreshed. After using this regularly for a few days, I noticed that my complexion evened out and my skin looked way more hydrated. You’re going to want to buy the biggest bottle because once you start using it, you can’t stop!

Even if you’re a big believer in beauty on a budget, it’s really nice to splurge and get something fancy for yourself. While these products aren’t totally necessary in your daily routine, they’re good for the soul, and you can’t put a price tag on that!
