Friendlationships: When You’re Practically Married To Your BFF

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Molloy chapter.

She’s your biggest fan, your therapist, your personal comedian, your fashion guru, and, mostly importantly, your best friend.  Whether you’ve been friends since kindergarten or you just met last year, every bestie pair is unique.  However, one thing they all share in common is the unconditional, almost obsessive, love two besties share for one another.  Here’s how you can tell that you and your best friend are practically married soul mates.

You know each other’s schedules by heart

“So how did you do on that math test yesterday?”

“Aren’t you late for class?”

Their family finds it weird when you don’t come around

Mom: “I haven’t seen Kerry in a while, is everything okay with you too?”

*walks into best friend’s house* Second Mom: “Oh good my favorite daughter is home. I swear, I don’t know how you deal with her sometimes.”

You share everything

“Oh good you got fries! I’m starving!”

“I don’t have anything to wear, you got anything good?” “Yeah go look. I love my red shirt on you, you should wear that one again.”

You nag each other

“I’ll let you go so you can finish your project. Do it before you go out tonight!”

“I hate to say I told you so but I totally called this happening.”

People automatically ask you where she is if you’re not together

“Hey where’s Kerry?” “What do I look like, her mom?! . . . She’s visiting her grandma.”

“How come Kerry isn’t with you?” “We have lives outside of each other you know! . . . Sometimes.”

You always have each other’s back

“He said what?! I’m gonna kill him!”

“Hey! Only I can call her that! Rude!”

You can read each other’s minds

*looks at best friend* “Don’t give me that face!”

*looks at best friend and dies laughing* Outsider: “What?!” You: “Nothing, we didn’t say anything.” *continues laughing*

You talk about them whenever you’re apart

*apple picking with outsiders* “Kerry loves apples.  Did you know they’re her favorite fruit?!”

“So I was at Kerry’s this weekend . . . “

Vacations would only seem to make sense with them by your side

“So where are we going on spring break?”

*texts Groupon link* “We out!”

You take a ridiculous amount of couple pictures on said vacations

“We look sooo cute here! Totally going to Instagram this one!” “Oh yes! Now which one should I use?”

“Okay now a laughing one.”

One day apart feels like years

“I have soooo much to tell you!” “Ah I missed so much!”

“Oh I forgot to tell you, I have work tomorrow.” “So what am I supposed to do?”

You can be brutally honest with one another

“Seriously?! Again?! You need to stop this.”

“Okay, what about this one?” “No definitely the other one.” “But . . .” “No. The other one.”

If you have a significant other, he or she has felt as if they are third wheeling you and your best friend

*to best friend* “Wanna split dessert? They have your favorite!”

“Why are you being so quiet babe?” Babe: “I have no clue what you two are talking about.”

You can’t imagine your life without them

“OMG I love you!”

“Love you too, loser.”
