One of my favorite shopping events of the year is just around the corner… and no, it isn’t Black Friday. It’s a day dedicated to admiring the work of those in our very community: Small Business Saturday. On Nov. 25, participating small businesses in the Mankato area will be welcoming customers into their space to celebrate and support shopping small.

“By supporting local, independently-owned small businesses, we’re helping create jobs, boost the economy and preserve neighborhoods around the country.” -City Center Mankato.

This year’s event will have a fun twist to shopping small that includes a personal “passport” to mark off what stores customers were able to check in at. If customers are able to successfully check-in at eight different businesses within the three allotted areas (Red, Blue and Green Zones), they will be entered to win in the raffle of their choice. Participating businesses will offer their own prizes, so it’s not something you’ll want to miss out on!

Small Business Saturday is a great time to shop for the holiday season, but it’s also a good time to get to know the stories behind some of your favorite Mankato businesses. As you know, business owners and associates love getting to develop a relationship with their customers, and it’s the perfect time to ask questions, explore and have fun!

With so many great businesses participating in this years event, I’ve hand-picked a few of my favorite spots that I don’t think you should skip out on.

  1. Sticks & Stones Mankato, 1027 N Riverfront Dr.

  2. Gallery 512 Boutique, 611 N. Riverfront Dr.

  3. Bluebird Cakery, 607 S. Front St.

  4. Neutral Groundz, 229 Belgrade Ave.

  5. Tandem Bagels, 200 E. Walnut Street

There is so much to see and do in Mankato, so why not start with Small Business Saturday? Let’s get out in the community, socialize, shop and support! For further information: City Center Mankato
