For all you lushies out there wondering what products are good for you and how to use them, I’m here to show you my lush routine and what works for me! Anyone who knows me knows that Lush is my all-time favorite natural cosmetic brand, I literally use it for everything. I recently made the switch over to natural brands such as Lush and I have been very happy with the results. Not only is it great for your body, it is also great for the environment! So you can look good, feel good, and do good with any of these products. As a busy college student, taking care of your body is key to living a positive lifestyle and I’m here to show you how I do that!

Superbalm

This scalp treatment has definitely been a lifesaver for me. I have curly hair, so naturally my scalp is drier than I would like it to be, and I have had a hard struggle with dandruff. To help manage that I start my nightly lush routine by rubbing a dab of Superbalm into the irritated or flaky patches of skin on my scalp. Let it sit for about 20 minutes to let the soothing blend of coconut oil, rose wax, lavender and chamomile work its wonders before hopping in the shower and washing it out. Be careful though, it is a pretty strong treatment so use it at most once a week to avoid overly oily hair.

Dark Angels

Calling all acne-prone faces! This product is the best thing that ever happened to oily skin. The main ingredient, charcoal, acts as a magnet for any unwanted oils or toxins that build up on the surface of the face that cause those pesky breakouts. This product isn’t too drying either, because the cold pressed avocado oil will balance everything out. Dark Angels not only cleanses, but brightens skin so you won’t look like you stayed up all night writing that research paper that’s due in an hour! I use Dark Angels about 10 minutes after I apply Superbalm and 10 minutes before I get in the shower, which will allow time for me to apply one of my favorite face masks!

Full of Grace Facial Serum

After I give my face a much needed cleanse, I go straight for a moisturizer. Now, I know I said I would do a facemask, and I’m getting to that, but first I use the Full of Grace Facial Serum to prime my skin. I thought it was weird too, moisturizing before a face mask? Wouldn’t that just block the effects of the mask altogether? Not exactly. See, the magic of this product is that the natural butters and almond and rose oils do not clog your pores, but make it so they are easily absorbed by the skin. This in turn allows the ingredients of the face mask to be easily absorbed as well. This solid moisturizer will melt to the temperature of your skin as you apply it, which will provide the exact amount your skin needs.

Brazened Honey

Now for every stressed out college girls favorite part of any self care routine, the face mask! This fresh face mask has all natural ingredients, such as ginger, honey, lime juice, and ground almond shells, that soften, brighten, and exfoliate your skin and give off a sweet aroma. Because the ingredients are extremely fresh, this mask should be kept in the fridge when not in use. This is a nice added bonus, because the cold temp of the mask will help give your skin a good waking up! Keep this on for about 10 minutes, and then hop in the shower to rinse it off.

Scrubee

This is definitely my favorite Lush product I own. The Scrubee is an exfoliating body butter that uses ground coconut shells to scrub off dead skin cells and shea and cocoa butters to moisturize. I use the Scrubee right before I get into the shower. I rub it all over my legs to make sure my razor will get the closest shave possible for extra smooth skin.

Happy Hippy

The first thing I do after I rise off my mask is lather up with this citrus scented shower gel! The grapefruit oil makes my skin feel so fresh and clean and will thoroughly clean off all the grossness of the New York City streets. I have gone through many shower gels, soaps, and shower jellies from Lush, and you really can’t go wrong with any of them. Just pick out your favorite scent and you’re good to go!

Curly Wurly

This product is a curly girls dream. Every time I go into a Lush, the workers, seeing my curly locks, immediately recommend the Curly Wurly shampoo, and I must say, it has really lived up to its expectations. Everything from the shredded coconut to the fresh papaya and shea butter help to smooth frizz and give my hair the moisture it craves. When I use this, I make sure to really focus on the scalp, were most of the oils build up.

Retread

This is Lush’s richest conditioner they have. It also helps to tame frizz and especially fight off breakage. The olive oil makes the strands more elastic, so you won’t find yourself shedding so much hair and wondering how on earth you’re not bald yet!

The fact that it contains all-natural ingredients such as avocado oil, melon, and jojoba oil mean that it does not quite have the thick consistency you might be used to with heavy conditioners. Not to worry, it still works just fine and after about two weeks of using this product your hair will start to exhibit a nice healthy glow. I let this product sit in my hair for about 3-5 minutes, really focusing on applying a generous amount to the ends.

Full of Grace Facial Serum

After rinsing out the conditioner and drying off, I go straight for the Full of Grace Serum once more, to make sure my faces gets the necessary oils it needs before bed.

Enchanted Eye Cream

As I have gotten older and started to suffer from chronic lack of sleep like all college students do, eye cream is just another product that has been added to my nightly routine. Lucky, Lush as the perfect one: Enchanted Eye Cream. I put a dab of this under each eye before I hop in bed, so the dark circles that haunt college students everywhere don’t appear on my face and I won’t look like I just woke up 5 minutes before my 8am class. Also the lavender honey water has a calming aroma which serves as a natural sleep aide.

Popcorn

One of my least favorite thing in the world is chapped lips. I carry ChapStick with me everywhere and religiously apply it several times throughout the day. I use this unique flavored lip scrub before bed (or before a date) to make my lips super silky soft. After scrubbing the sweet sugar over your dry lips, you just lick it off for a caramel popcorn flavored treat.

Shades of Earl Grey

To end the night, I make sure my legs are as smooth as they can be to create that amazing feeling you get when you have freshly shaved legs against nice clean sheets. This is the second body butter on my list, but this one serves a different purpose. This Earl Grey scented moisturizer soothes any tension you may have leftover from the day, and leaves your skin smooth as a baby’s butt. Like the Full of Grace, it melts to the temperature of your skin and lasts forever, so if you’re as addicted to moisture as I am, than this is the best Lush item for you.
