17 Irrational Valentine’s Day Thoughts

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MMM chapter.

Well here we are, another February 14th.  Whether you consider it just another exploitation of consumer culture or a day of genuine affection, if you do happen to be single this Valentine’s Day you’re probably going to have a lot on your mind–at least I do anyway. So in honor if it being 2017 here are 17 irrational thoughts that I have on Valentine’s Day to let all my single ladies and fellas know that you’re not alone on this oh so special day of love.

  1.     Do I have to wear something pink?
  2.     People will definitely say something if I don’t wear pink.
  3.     Does chocolate go on sale today or tomorrow?
  4.     Do they still make those heart shaped pizzas?!
  5.     I feel like I need one of those…
  6.     No, I deserve one of those…
  7.     Yes, I am a strong, independent, young professional woman, I own multiple blazers, I deserve this pizza.
  8.     But do I order to pick it up or for delivery? Both seem sad. SAD!
  9.     Nope, nope now I’m thinking about our current political climate. There goes my appetite.
  10.    *Moves “call representatives” and “dismantle the patriarchy” up on to do list*
  11.    Maybe I will wear a little pink.
  12.    No, all black with red lipstick that way I acknowledge it’s a regular day but maybe also that I might have thought about the color conformity of this holiday.
  13.    Back to the chocolate.
  14.    Maybe I’ll get a little somethin’ somethin’ even if it’s not on sale yet.
  15.    Treat yo self, right?
  16.    Let’s be honest, Galentine’s Day is the superior holiday anyway, this day is irrelevant.
