“So Cosmo” Premiers on E!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

E! premiered its new show, “So Cosmo”, on Wednesday, and you better believe that this aspiring fashion journalist was all for it. The show, which centers around the lives of a group of Cosmopolitan magazine staff members, didn’t shy away from bringing on the drama in the first episode. Aside from getting a behind-the-scenes look at a photo shoot with Ruby Rose, the episode showed the enthralling formation of a potential office relationship between Brand Coordinator Diandra Bardwell and Fitness Contributor Evan Betts and ended with the shocking announcement of the editor-in-chief’s departure from the magazine, which puts the rest of the staff’s jobs in jeopardy. Evidently, viewers were taken through a reality show rollercoaster ride.

Already, there are some editors that are my personal favorites, but here’s a complete rundown of who’s who in the Cosmo staff:

Joanna Coles, [former] Editor-in-Chief

Aya Kanai, Executive Fashion Director

Leah Wyar Romito, Executive Beauty Director

Diandra Barnwell, Brand Coordinator

Evan Betts, Fitness Contributor

Steven Brown, Bookings Director

Adam Mansuroglu, Fashion Editor

Tiffany Reid, Senior Fashion Editor

James Worthington Demolet, Senior Fashion Editor

Next week, we’ll get to see how the events introduced in the first episode begin to unfold. Will Diandra and Evan continue pursuing a relationship? Will we get to meet the new editor-in-chief, and will he or she bring in an entirely new staff with them? Can the new episode just premiere right now or is that too much to ask?

Evidently, I’m all for this show right now. I hope they’re able to continue to have a good balance between showing what’s happening within the professional side of working at Cosmopolitan and what’s happening within each employee’s individual lives like they did in this episode.

If you missed the premiere, you can watch a recap of it here.

My name is Brea Cubit and I'm a junior at the University of Missouri, majoring in journalism with an emphasis in magazine editing, and minoring in textile and apparel management to pursue a career in fashion journalism. When I'm not obsessing over Zendaya, Beyoncé and Cara Delevingne (and telling people random facts about them that the average person doesn’t care to know), I spend my time reading fashion magazines and blogs, creating mood boards, becoming one with my Canon camera, and drinking chai tea.
