Every year it seems that half the people in the U.S. watch the Super Bowl for the game, and the other half is just in it for the commercials. Since running a 30-second commercial during the Super Bowl costs about $5 million, then it’s no wonder companies try to impress the millions of fans watching. This year’s game had a lot of interesting and moving themes that we don’t always see. For those of you who missed it or just want to re-watch them, here are 15 of the top commercials that were aired for the 2018 Super Bowl.

Budweiser – “Stand by You”

This year’s Super Bowl did not include the usual Clydesdale horse commercial from Budweiser. Instead the company focused on the need of water after natural disasters.

Tide – “It’s a Tide Ad”

I was a bit intrigued by this commercial because the company combined aspects of all different sorts of ideas and still ended up making it work as an ad for laundry detergent.

Pepsi – “This is the Pepsi”

Pepsi incorporated a timeline in their ad. They went through generations to show how timeless their soda is.

Tourism Australia Dundee with Chris Hemsworth and Danny McBride

This commercial’s scenery had me sold in a minute. It seemed to be a trailer for an upcoming movie, but in the end turned out to be an Australian tourism ad.

Wendy’s – “Iceberg”

Wendy’s was not afraid to roast McDonald’s this year, calling them out for having “frozen arches” because their meat is not cooked fresh daily.

Ram – “Built to Serve”

The incorporation of Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech had a touching impact on Ram’s commercial that may have otherwise gone unnoticed.

Bud Light – “The Bud Knight”

When I saw this commercial, only one word came to my mind: cheesy.

Sprint – “Evelyn”

If you like AI (Artificial Intelligence), then you’re sure to enjoy this one involving a robot named Evelyn.

“Doritos Blaze vs. Mountain Dew Ice”

This Super Bowl ad had a hilarious song battle, and I honestly don’t know who I would choose as the winner. See it for yourself and maybe you can decide.

Winter Olympics – “This is Me”

Using the song from “The Greatest Showman” made the Olympics commercial emotional and heartwarming.

Amazon – “Alexa Loses Her Voice”

Now this commercial got quite a few laughs from me, and even though it all seemed very far stretched, it was clever.

T-Mobile – “#Littleones”

T-Mobile’s cute baby ad supported diversity, offering to protect everyone no matter where they come from.

Coca-Cola – “The Wonder of Us”

This year, Coca-Cola’s theme revolves around the idea that we all come from different places and have our own unique stories, but there is always a Coke for each of us.

Water.org and Stella Artois – “Taps”

Matt Damon made an appearance in this ad as he tells us how we can make an impact in the lives of those who need water in South America, Africa and Asia.

NFL – “Touchdown Celebrations to Come”

The classic song from “Dirty Dancing” plus NFL athletes signals a great commercial no matter the occasion.

After the game is over and the commercials have been seen, then it’s time to celebrate and wait for next year to do it all over again.
