Little Black Box is the New Little Black Dress

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

You babes know the drill by now. Every month, there’s a standard to-do list: make a panicked run to the drugstore, purchase all the chocolate you can find on sale, and collapse on the couch grumbling about having to get out. Check, check, check.

Fortunately, there is a MUCH easier way to handle your period! There’s been a (fantastic) trend of monthly subscription boxes in the beauty and fashion world, like SoapBox and Ipsybag, but there’s a little known niche that all us uterus-owners should definitely know about.

“Monthly Gift.” is a monthly period subscription box that delivers a sleek little black box to your door before your cycle, filled with supplies and a complimentary chocolate bar. On their website, you can specify how heavy your flow is, which protection you prefer, and if you want the chocolate (it’s free!). With a year subscription, it’s $10 a box, but you can opt for a 6 month subscription for $12 per box or a cycle-by-cycle subscription for $13 per box.

I took the quiz they had on their site and based on the information I gave them (Heavy flow, pads only, yes to the chocolate) it suggested a box of 24 long super pads a month plus a chocolate bar. I couldn’t have picked it better myself.

It should be noted that the boxes don’t include an overnight option, which would be nice, but judging from the size of the regular pads which I was able to get my hands on, the Long Super size would work just fine for most. For me, however, I would probably need to have a separate supply of diaper-esque pads for those particularly nightmarish days.

The company also has an app that you can use to track your period, fertility cycle, and birth control. I usually use the app Clue (which is free and is great by the way for those who prefer a gender-neutral display) but, I am extremely impressed by this app. I used it for my last cycle and it was really easy to use. If you’re planning on also subbing to the box, the app syncs up with your subscription so you won’t have to run to the drugstore ever again.

No drugstore runs? More time to binge watch every Channing Tatum movie on Netflix? Chocolate?? Finally.
