A Definitive List of Must-See Horror Movies

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

I am not going to pretend like I know more about love stories than the obvious difference between The Grudge and The Ring. Anyways, here are a few horror films that are worth your time.

1. The Ring: It is a classic; what is better than trying to solve a mysterious dead girl’s wishes while on a time crunch? Nothing.

2. Shutter Island: A psychological horror film starring Leonardo DiCaprio. That is all the convincing you should need.

3. The Evil Dead: This movie honestly freaked me out a bit and made me laugh. This one is good for days when you just need a distraction.

4. Sinister: The usual; Creepy films, an old house, and a possessed child. Check it out.

5. Fear Island: Really underrated movie with Lucy Hale and some other attractive stars stranded on an island. Do not worry, there is a plot twist.

6. The Ward: This one is about a mental hospital with some odd techniques of handling patients. There is a very high chance of this one disrupting your sleep for at least two days post viewing, so be warned.

7. The Grudge: This one is a classic that will also scare you into never camping again. Watch it at your own risk.

8. Hide & Seek: Dakota Fanning and Robert De Niro star in a psychological thriller that takes place in New York. There are imaginary friends, creepy neighbors, and an adorable yet delusional young Dakota.

9. Scream: This is the ultimate classic; it never gets old.

10. Goodnight Mommy: This one is fairly new and eerily set in a modernized world. Lots of psychological tension and uncomfortable dynamics that make it one of the scariest movies I have ever seen.
