5 Things To Do During Homecoming Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

We are over halfway through the semester, which means Homecoming week is finally here! As one of MU’s oldest and most loved traditions, thousands of students, alumni and friends are gearing up to “come home” and celebrate this historic event. To make sure you get the most out of this year’s Homecoming, check out these five events happening during the week.

1. Oct. 20-23: Talent Competition. Missouri Theatre, 203 S. 9th Street, 6:30 p.m. nightly

Celebrate homecoming by watching students perform skits and dances. Cost is $8 for MU students and will be pre-sold online and at the door. Can’t make it to the theatre? No worries! Watch a live feed of the talent and grab some free food at The Shack in the Student Center from 6–10 p.m. nightly.

2. Oct. 23: Almost Midnight Breakfast. Tiger Plaza on Rollins Street, 9-11 p.m.

To honor Homecoming, Mizzou After Dark is sponsoring the annual Almost Midnight Breakfast. Biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and more will be served! The event is free for MU students with a student ID and $5 for the general public.

3. Oct. 24: Campus Decorations. Greek Town, 5-9 p.m.

Check out this year’s Mizzou Greek community’s Decs theme, “Oh, the places you’ll go!” Greek or not, get a chance to see the exciting house decorations and watch their giant skits!

4. Oct. 25: Homecoming Parade. The District, 9 a.m.

Join thousands at the annual Homecoming Parade by heading downtown to view this beloved Homecoming tradition.

5. Oct. 25: Football game versus Vanderbilt. Memorial Stadium, kickoff 3 p.m.

Show some spirit and support our Tigers as they take on the Commodores. As an added bonus, the 2014 Homecoming King and Queen will be announced at halftime!
