5 Songs to Kickstart Your Fall Workout

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

Coming to Mizzou as a freshman, I had my fears of gaining the Mizzou 22. The rec center might be free for everyone, but laziness quickly kicks in, and “I walked to class, I don’t need to go workout” quickly becomes your favorite excuse! The perfect additions to your workout playlist can inspire you to crank out another 10 minutes before you hit the shower, so here are my favorite picks:

1. “Money All Around” by HOLYCHILD

The intro to the song is a little odd; I will be the first to admit that.  Once you get past the first few seconds the beat kicks in and something about it just makes me want to keep pace to the quick beat.

2. “Shut Up and Dance” by WALK THE MOON

This is a perfect song to keep beat to while working out; something I find myself needing in order to not stop. It just makes you want to dance!

3. “Love Myself” by Hailee Steinfeld

Not only is the music video something to smile about, it inspires me to turn off Netflix and head to the rec.  Working out is something I’m doing to feel better about myself, and this song is just an anthem to those needing a song to remind them to keep pushing.

4. “Midnight City” by M83

This song is most well known for being featured in a Victoria’s Secret commercial. Need I say more as to why it’s on my playlist?

Quick tip: There’s a mashup of “Midnight City” and Kanye’s “Good Life,” which is pure gold if you’re looking for an amped-up version of the song.

5. “Bitch, I’m Madonna/Bad Blood (Mashup) by AnDyWuMUSICLAND

This mashup was made by a 17-year old girl and is amazing.  She takes two power songs and mashes them together perfectly.  When the beat drops in the “Bad Blood” chorus it just feeds you the souls of your enemies.  There’s something about this song that just pushes me to go that extra (half) mile while working out.
