Where would we be without Pinterest? The website is a girl’s haven for all things beauty, fashion, food, home, wedding and more. One of Pinterest’s biggest sections (if not their biggest) is the Do It Yourself category. It takes all of five seconds of scrolling through the feed to run into some sort of DIY project, the majority of which are beauty related. We narrowed down our top five favorite DIY beauty hacks for you to try at home (or pin to your board and never actually make.) Either way, they’re fun to look at!

1. Coffee Sugar Scrub

Coffee scrub is super #trendy right now. Not only does it exfoliate your skin, but the caffeine in the coffee supposedly helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Instead of buying an overpriced package from some girl you saw promoting it on Instagram, make your own with only three ingredients. Recipe here.

2. Dry Shampoo

Whoever said diamonds are a girl’s best friend clearly never used dry shampoo. This miracle of an invention absorbs oil on the scalp and hair, which means you can skip the shower and get an extra 20 minutes of precious beauty sleep in the morning. Rather than buying it at the store, this super easy DIY allows you to make it yourself. Bonus: there’s an option for both blondes and brunettes. Recipe here.

3. Bath Bombs

My idea of a perfect night in consists of a good book, some chill music, and a warm bath. Thanks to Lush’s bath bombs, a soak in the tub feels extra pampering. But, as those of you who have been to Lush know, it’s expensive AF. To be fair, getting fresh, handmade and cruelty-free beauty products is worth the price, but a $7 ball of fizz doesn’t always fit into a college kid’s budget. This homemade bath bomb recipe lets you treat yo self without breaking the bank. Recipe here.

4. All Natural Bronzer

With summer around the corner, bronzer is an easy way to get a sun-kissed glow without damaging your skin. However, like many beauty products, it can be filled with toxic chemicals. With this natural alternative, you can protect your skin and save money at the same time. Recipe here.

5. Coconut Oil Eyeliner

Wait, what? Yeah, homemade eyeliner is a thing and it literally has two ingredients. When you’re dealing with an area as sensitive as your eyes, keeping products as natural as possible is best in order to prevent irritation. Plus, coconut oil can help your lashes grow. What’s not to love? Recipe here.

Next time you’re at the store, resist the urge to put a bunch of unnecessary beauty items in your shopping cart. Or, avoid stepping foot in stores like Sephora and Ulta all together. Instead, save money and show your skin some love with natural DIY beauty products.
