5 Activities to Get You in the Fall Spirit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

There’s truly no better time than fall time. From picking apples to carving pumpkins, there’s so much to do to get in the spirit of the season. If you’re digging the autumnal vibes as much as we are, check out some of our favorite fall activities below!

1. Try Pumpkin Spice Everything!

I mean, DUH! Who doesn’t love pumpkin spice?! Whether it’s pumpkin-scented candles, flavored coffee, candy, food, etc., it is bound to get you feeling those fall vibes. Test out the PSL from Starbucks, or check out your local Bath & Body works for the newest fall-scented candles! Whatever you do, get your hands on some pumpkin spice flavors or scents and get ready for fall!

2. Have a baking day!

What is more fun than baking with your besties? Yeah, not much. There are so many fall-themed recipes out there to try out! Try making apple crisp, apple pie or even pumpkin bars! This is such a fun way to spend time with your friends and celebrate fall, the best season ever!

3. Go to the apple orchard!

This is one of my favorite things to do in the fall. When the weather starts to cool down and you can throw on your newest cozy sweater, this is the perfect time to go to your local apple orchard! Sweaters aside, fresh-picked apples during the fall season are the best apples you will ever have. There’s something about apples from an orchard that are just so much better. Even if you aren’t a fan of apples, this is a fun activity to get out and enjoy the fall weather! Some orchards have corn mazes, tractor rides, etc., so find one that you can spend the day at! (P.S.: This is also a perfect spot for a mini fall photo shoot ;))

4. Carve pumpkins!

Let your creativity run wild! Carving pumpkins is such a fun way to celebrate fall, and the pumpkins also make for fun decorations! Pick up some pumpkins, and create your own special design! You can create whatever you want when carving a pumpkin, so be original and make it your own! Pro Tip: save the seeds from the inside of the pumpkin and bake them for a healthy treat. You can season them to be sweet or savory, whichever you prefer. YUM!

5. Have a movie night!

Get into the Halloween spirit by watching Halloween movies for hours and hours. Pick a chilly fall day when you just want to stay in your PJ’s all day and cozy up on the couch! Gather some friends and some fall treats and dedicate a day to Netflix. You’re bound to find endless Halloween-themed movies to last a whole day, so relax and enjoy! And check out our guide to the best scary movies on Netflix here.
