4 Upcoming Concerts To See In CoMo/STL

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

As the year winds down, it’s time to treat you and your friends to a concert (and to cure your depression from missing those outrageously expensive out-of-state music fesitvals like Coachella and Lollapalooza). Here is a handful of concerts to check out that are coming to Columbia and St. Louis.

1. Somo

When: April 24

Where: The Blue Note (Columbia)

Having become a YouTube sensation, Somo (Joseph Somers), has made a name for himself. He is currently touring the country to please his large and growing fan base. The Texas native blew up after recording several covers and streaming them on YouTube. Besides singing, Somo also plays the piano and guitar.

2. Jamey Johnson

When: April 25

Where: The Blue Note (Columbia)

This country music artist, from Montgomery, Ala., has been around for almost 10 years. Making a name for himself with the hit single, “The Dollar,” he also co-writes singles for fellow country singers like Jessie James and Joe Nicholas.

3. Local Natives

When: April 29

Where: The Blue Note (Columbia)

The local natives are an indie pop/rock band from Silver Lake, Calif.  After they debuted their album, “Gorilla Manor,” they became the band to watch. From that they grew in popularity and have toured with well-known bands like Grizzly Bear, Arcade Fire and more. I saw them live at the House of Blues in Chicago and I have to say these guys put on such an amazing show. They have great energy and leave you wanting more, so don’t miss them when they come to Columbia.

4. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony

When: April 27

Where: The Pageant (St. Louis)

Having been around since the early ’90s, this Cleveland hip-hop group is still going strong. For those of you that are not that familiar with BTNH, their song, “1st of tha Month,” is the most well-known. At No. 12 on the “25 Best Rap Groups of All Time,” this band is a must-see.
