4 Trends For Fall Football Games

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

Welcome back, Tigers! Wondering what new styles will look best on you for game days to come? Look no further. Elly’s Couture and Cha Boutique downtown know just what you’re searching for to look fierce at the Zou’s next home game. If spending money is a last resort, I also have a few DIY ideas that will still keep you up to date on this fall’s fashion at an affordable cost. To start, let me refresh you on this fall’s hottest trends according to cosmopolitan.com.

1. Big sweaters paired with a shorter skirts2. Crop tops tucked into high-waisted skirts3. Short, flowy dresses4. Black leather moto jacket combined with a cute dress or jeans!

Though Cha is the newest boutique downtown, they hit the nail on the head when it comes to chic game day outfits.

In this photo, taken from Cha Boutique’s Instagram, @chaboutiquecolumbia, the model is rockin’ a short, flowy dress. Accessorize this with a gold embellished belt that Cha also sells and you are game day ready!

Also taken from @chaboutiquecolumbia is the perfect big sweater + mini skirt combo. This outfit is perfectly accessorized with an embellished belt. If you’re feeling really ambitious roll up the sleeves, add some gold bangles and a little black clutch.

Now that you have insight on what trends the newbies are workin’ with downtown, let’s move on to the veterans of game day chic: Elly’s Couture.

This picture, taken from Elly’s Instagram, @ELLYS_COUTURE, sports a cute/casual combination of the high-waisted skirt and crop top style. This ensemble would look even more fabulous with black gladiator sandals as shown above or black Chuck Taylors.

Now, whether we want to admit it or not, it will get cold outside. To bear the late fall temperatures, add any cute/casual top with an edgy black leather jacket. Also taken from @ELLYS_COUTURE, these tops are perfect to wear with black skinny jeans and the spirited scarf shown above.

If you are more on the frugal side of fashion and prefer designing your own game day apparel as a way to save money, here are a few tips in designing your own game day dress:

1. Grab your favorite XL or XXL Mizzou t-shirt and put your arms through the neck hole, creating a tube top look.2. Tuck the sleeves into the shirt creating faux pockets.3. If you want to create functional pockets just sow the sleeve ends together and tuck them back into the shirt.4. Grab your favorite game day belt and place it just under your bust line and above the pockets.

Add a cardigan and your favorite game day necklace and you are all set!

It’s great to keep in mind that these outfits can be mixed and matched. You always have something new to wear to impress your friends and our opponents! Not only will you be the best dressed in the stands, but also the tailgates and after-game celebrations. M-I-Z!
