13 Classic Vines to Watch Before the App Disappears (R.I.P.)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

Twitter announced last week it would be shutting down video-looping mobile app, Vine, “in the coming months.”  Vine set itself apart from other social media platforms with its 6-second time limit and looping videos that bred creativity. The site launched the careers of many and quickly became a platform for internet sensations and sponsored content. Some say Instagram videos and Snapchat killed Vine. Others claim Twitter, who owned the platform, wasn’t investing enough resources in innovation. Several argue Vine was never more than a fad. Regardless, Vine has been a large part of online culture since its creation in 2013.

The app is currently still available for download, and no specific timetable has been given as to when Vine will disappear. To mourn the death of Vine, we have compiled 13 of the great classic Vines.  From hilarious to heartwarming, Vine was hands-down the most relatable social media platform out there.

It showed how we deal with our daily problems.

R.I.P., Vine. You taught us that it is possible to waste hours of time watching 6-second videos. We will miss you dearly. And for as long as you can, “do it for the Vine.”
