Campus Celebrity: Alina Gatowski

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

From Beverly Hills, Michigan, Alina is a senior in Course 20 at MIT, and one of the coolest people you will ever meet here. While juggling academics, she’s also the president of the sorority Alpha Phi, a star runner, an MIT blogger, and a great role model! It’s a surprise she has any time left for herself!

Her favorite pleasures in life are simple and include just study breaking in the TV room of Alpha Phi with her sisters while watching her favorite Katharine Hepburn movie, Desk Set. Although her spare time is limited, she enjoys reading (especially the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde), baking, and of course, lots of running!

Hardly one to run away from a good deed, she recently brightened the days of her hungry cross- country team after practice by helping make tons and tons of pancakes with the other captains! If you ever see her around campus, be sure to say hi! And if you ever need help or advice, I’m sure she’ll be your gal!

Quirky Fact: If Alina could be any sort of salad, she’d love her hometown’s restaurant chain of Leo’s Coney Island greek vinaigrette dressing her leafy greens!
