Dear Ellie

Dear Ellie,   I love my sister. She is a year older than me, and we have always been close friends. As of this semester though, she transferred here to the U from Madison. I have an apartment with three other girls, and one of them is studying abroad this semester. So we had an opening and my sister needed somewhere to go. Initially it was fun living with my sister again, but lately things have been difficult. She hasn’t made an effort to make any of her own friends, and she solely hangs out with my group. She is also quite “adventurous," and has been taking a lot of guys back to our apartment. READ MORE

The Gophers were able to keep Floyd of Rosedale after a 22-21 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes. Students rushed the field after beating Iowa for the second year in a row. Who hates Iowa? We hate Iowa! Keeping the bronze pig on the Minnesota campus was definitely a positive for Gopher fans, and provided some hope in the midst of a dismal season.   READ MORE

Brianna’s Beauty Review

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder   Face powder is an essential for any makeup bag. It’s the key to finishing off your look and erasing the ever-dreaded facial shine. I have looked for years for a powder that complements my skin tone and doesn’t make me look like a powdered donut. From my own personal experience, I can attest to the fact that finding the right powder can be a nightmare. You want one that does what it’s supposed to, but doesn’t tell the world “HEY! I’m wearing powder on top of my foundation!!” - which is so often the case. After searching high and low for a product that won’t break the budget, but offers top of the line READ MORE

Tips to Combat Procrastination

By Stacy Fahey
November 1, 2011 - 2:11pm

Students have been having midterms for most of the past month now. I have one in the beginning of
November – which is pushing it a bit, if you ask me.

So as papers, projects and midterms seem to be scattered everywhere, it takes a bit for me to focus
and get done what I need to do. I am a creative thinker and I have to force other parts of my mind to
shut off so that I can concentrate on the task at hand. Once I do this, it all becomes relatively easy. So
whatever it is that's looming around the corner, here are a few things that I've picked up that may help you too!

Keep it clean.

If you're like me then you can't work in a total mess of an apartment. And to avoid procrastination

Tresemme Simply No Frizz spray gel   If you’re anything like me, you wake up in the morning, quickly shower, dab on some makeup, and run out the door to catch the bus and make it to class just in time. For me, this means no time to properly style my hair - a deal I willingly make with myself in order to savor just a couple more minutes soundly asleep in my bed. I’ve got long, wavy hair that tends to be somewhat frizzy, and a tangled mess by the end of the day. However, all that has changed thanks to my new lifesaver product – Tresemme Simply READ MORE

What Do You Want to Do Before You Die?   “This life of mine. Got a lot to do before I live it up.” These words are the opening lyrics to the MTV reality documentary, “The Buried Life.” The series follows the adventures of four friends attempting to complete a list of the 100 things to do before they die. The stars of the show, Duncan, Jonnie, Ben, and Dave, spoke to University of Minnesota students on Oct. 22.   The idea for the ‘Buried Life’ formed in 2006 after the four friends realized they were not accomplishing everything in life they wanted.
