8 Reasons Franzia is the Best Wine for College Students

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Minnesota chapter.

If you’re in college and keep wine in the apartment, chances are it’s Franzia. It may have a reputation for being the cheap wine (which is thankfully true), but it’s also the perfect wine for college students. Here’s why:

1.Affordability.

Let’s be real, we’re balling on a budget as college students. No one needs to know they’re drinking boxed wine, and even if they do, who cares! I’d much rather pay $18 for a giant box, then $30 for a fancy bottle.

2. Quantity.

A standard bottle of wine is 750ml, while a box of Franzia is three liters, or 20 five-ounce glasses! I’m no mathematician, but I sure know I’m getting more bang for my buck.

3. Options.

In all, Franzia offers 19 different flavors, from Sunset Blush (moscato) to Dark Red. Who doesn’t love variety?

4. Space Saving.

Yes bottles are smaller than a Franzia box, but bottles roll around and seem to end up taking up more space. With a box of Franzia, it can be stacked, stored and stowed with ease!

5. No glass.

Let’s be honest, we aren’t all graceful ballerinas after a couple glasses of wine. Franzia boxes can fall off the counter or tip over and there will be no worries of stepping on leftover glass or a mess at all!

6. Lasting power.

This ties in with quantity; the bigger the better! The box promises a three-week life, but let’s be real, it only takes a week to finish it.

7. Portability.

The box may be kind of clunky, but lucky for us, the box has a handle that allows for it to be transported easily. If that’s doing too much, just take the bag of wine out of the box and throw it in your purse!

8. It’s wine.

College kids wouldn’t be able to tell the difference from a cheap wine and a nice wine in a taste test, so why bother with the fancy stuff. Wine is wine is wine.
