Spring break is upon us and if you’re like me, there’s absolutely no way you can afford those insane trips to Florida or beauitful islands. Don’t despair though, you just need to look closer to home to have an adventerous spring break! Pennsylvania is full of gorgeous landscapes and interesting trips – you just need to look for them. In one of my previous articles I mentioned that Centrailia would be an amazing spring break option. However, just recently it has become illegal to enter Centrailia due to the ground collapsing, meaning you have a high chance of being fined if you go. So, instead of going to the Graffiti Highway this spring break, here are a few other options that Pennsylvania has for you to explore!

Pine Creek Gorge (also known as the Pennsylvanian Grand Canyon)

This beauty is located in the Tioga State Forest which is 2 hours and 48 minutes away from Millersville University. I know a couple people who are traveling to the actual Grand Canyon but, being the poor college student I am, this is the only Grand Canyon that my bank account won’t cry over. To make this trip even better, there is no fee to enjoy this place!

Longwood Gardens

Longwood Gardens is located at Kennett Square which is only 65 minutes away from Millersville University. The cost of visiting this garden is different for each event they hold. For pricing you will need to go to their website. This garden has made it on my bucketlist because of the beautiful flowers. P.S. think how gorgeous your Instagram pictures will be!

The Boulder Field

The Boulder Field is located at the Hickory Run State Park which is about 2 hours and 15 minutes away from Millersville University. An interesting fact about this place is that the boulders were created during the last ice age. If you decide to come here make sure that you wear your comfiest pair of hiking boots!

Kinzua Bridge

This is located at the Kinzua Bridge State Park, which is 4 hours and 26 minutes away from Millersville University. This is an abandoned railway trestle which people walk out to the end and look over. This is definitely not a trip for people who are afraid of heights!

Bushkill Falls (also known as the Niagra of Pennsylvania)

The Bushkill Falls are located in the Poconos, which is 2 hours and 28 minutes away from Millersville University. The admission fee for adults is $14.50. At this beautiful park there are four different trail options: blue, yellow, red and green. You could even turn this trip into a long trip of going to multiple waterfalls of PA: Dingmans Falls, Silverthread Falls, Fulmer Falls, Factory Falls, Deer Leap Falls, Scudders Falls and Bridal Veil Falls!

Good luck with your midterms and have a safe spring break!
