5 Signs You’re Celebrating Christmas TOO Early

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Millersville chapter.

Everybody loves the holidays. There’s nothing wrong with picking your Halloween costume and wishing for a white Christmas. However in this day and age, we skip from Halloween to Christmas. TV plays costume advertisments and before we know it, and Christmas tunes and sales are going up. We are celebrating Christmas far too early! Let’s at least have a good Thanksgiving meal first, right? Here are five signs you have fallen victim to Pre-Christmas Syndrome:

5) You drop subtle hints to your family/spouse about your wish list

Let’s face it. We all want to be splurged on for Christmas. We want our gifts to be perfect and usable. But if you call and tell me what you want at midnight on November 1, you need your priorities set straight.

4) You look forward to Black Friday…but not Thanksgiving

Black Friday is good–I’m not going to lie–but why pass up turkey, apple pie and the works for long lines, adults acting like children and low shelf stocks. I’m sorry but I’ll pass.

3) You play Christmas songs…at the beginning of October!!

Christmas carols can be catchy and fun but if you’re playing them before or even after December, you may have a serious problem, my friend.

2) You’re looking to the sky hoping and wishing for SNOW!!

I love snow, I really do. It’s nice, soft and falls in the prettiest crystals. However, when it melts it turns into something I hate. ICE!!

I want my classes canceled just as much as the next person, but what I don’t want is to slip and slide just to get two feet from my dorm to class. Nope, snow can stay where it belongs, in December. There shouldn’t be one snowflake on the ground while I’m eating turkey.

1) You avoid Thanksgiving all together

It can be awkward seeing family members who haven’t seen you without a bib. Then again, Thanksgiving is the one time we can greet old family, eat a turkey leg and then yell over some football. Isn’t it just beautiful?

Overall, I believe we all are celebrating Christmas too early. Don’t get me wrong, I love the holidays; I’m not a Grinch. However, let’s celebrate them ALL (Thanksgiving included please).
