Fall Date Inspiration

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Miami (OH) chapter.
First semester is in full swing and many of us can get caught up in our busy schedules and forget about spending time with the boyfriend.  Celebrate the season by getting festive!  Now’s the time to carve pumpkins, go apple picking and check out the city life in downtown Cincinnati.  Go on a weekend adventure together and discover the sights and smells of fall close to campus.  Whether you’re going out with a long-term boyfriend or on a first date, these three rendezvous are Her Campus Miami approved.

Butterfield Farms

Located in Oxford, Butterfield Farms is a usual spot for large groups of Miami students to visit in the fall. However, it is the most perfect spot for a date. Cozy up on a hayride, get lost in a 5-acre corn maze, or roast marshmallows by the bonfire. The best part—it’s located in Oxford and is a short 5-minute drive from campus.

Apple and Pumpkin Picking in Cinci

One of the best parts about fall in Ohio is visiting orchards. A 45-minute drive south will take you to many farms to participate in the most quintessential aspect of fall: apple and pumpkin picking.  Spend the day revisiting your childhood and hunting for the best apples to make a pie later.  It’s a sweet and delicious way to spend time together. One great place you and your hubby could check out this October is Irons Fruit Farm. Enjoy the hayrides and corn maze, and don’t forget to pick out a few pumpkins you could bring home to carve and display on your front porch!

Dinner at Newport on the Levee

For a more sophisticated evening head one-hour south to Newport, Kentucky, located along the Ohio River.  Wear a fancy dress and heels and your man can sport a coat and tie.  Be adventurous!   Try something new at restaurants like Mitchell’s Fish Market for a taste of seafood, Naked Tchopstix for delicious Pan Asian cuisine, or Petra Cuisine for your Mediterranean fix.  Shopping is abundant and for those of age, enjoy the nightlife and don’t forget take in the view of the Cincinnati skyline!
