Essentials For Summer Music Festivals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Miami (OH) chapter.

Her Campus has made a Must-Have Guide for all you ladies out there planning on hitting up this summer’s biggest music festivals. Stay fashionable, care-free, and summer-savvy with these necessities!

Blanket Basics: Instead of sitting down in the grass or dirt, cozy up on a multi-colored blanket that will keep you dry and warm when the sun goes down!

Hats! Hats! Hats!: Summer festivals are a blast but also tend to take place in the crazy heat of the summer. Rocking a fashionable hat is one way to fight the sun and be boho chic at the same time! Celebs like Kate Moss and Lily Collins have both been seen sporting straw fedoras and woven floppy brimmed hats at Coachella.

Stunner Shades: Shield your eyes from harsh UV rays while you’re out and about. Whether you’re a wayfarer chick, aviator girl, or anything in between, be kind to your eyes and you’ll be able to enjoy the sights even more!

Mixed Prints: When you’re dressing for a summer festival, nothing is off limits! Take this opportunity to make bold fashion moves. Mix your favorite prints or wear a strong staple piece like a comfy patterned maxi dress. Above all, make sure whatever you wear is comfortable and light.

Metal Water Bottle: You’re going to be spending countless hours outdoors and you’re going to need to stay hydrated. So rather than spending money on drinks at the venues, take an environmentally friendly bottle or thermos with you and fill it up throughout the day.

Seventies Swag: Channel your inner 70s wild child by wearing a funky headband across your forehead. Rock those beautiful locks by adding this practical and sexy summer accessory. #LongHairDontCare

See-Through Sass: Sport a loose tribal tank or crochet mini dress and you’ll have heads turning all day. Wear a bathing suit top underneath in case the weather heats up and you need to shed a layer.

Darling in Denim: Bring your favorite worn-out jean shorts. They’re a necessity because they go with absolutely everything and will keep you comfortable no matter how crazy the crowds get.

Arm Candy: Layer colorful bracelets to add a pop of color to your get-up. Bangles and cuffs can instantly bring a hippie-esqe ensemble together

Be Kind to Your Skin: Comfy and fashionable clothes won’t do you any good if you let your beautiful skin get burnt! Bring and apply spray-on sunscreen that won’t run off as you run around!

The Perfect Pair: Neutral-toned sandals are perfect for some summer festival fun because they’re fashionable and they never go out of style. Go treat yourself to some strappy footwear that will go with every outfit you bring.
