Winter Premieres for January 2015

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mercer chapter.

Here’s to my favorite New Year’s resolution: watch even more awesome TV shows! After the hiatus during the holiday season, your favorite shows are returning to television for you to enjoy and obsess over each week. Also, even more shows are premiering for their first season in 2015. Here’s a list of what shows to watch out for on which days. I have taken the liberty to list the networks for each show and the channels so my fellow Mercerians don’t miss a second of the action!

To begin, some shows have already come back, but you not-so-dedicated viewers can easily catch up online or on Hulu Plus. In the past few weeks, Gotham, Pretty Little Liars, New Girl, American Horror Story: Freak Show, The Big Bang Theory, Glee, Castle, Parks and Recreation, and many more shows have returned after their winter finales.

Pretty Little Liars

ABC Family, Channel 67

In the winter finale, we began to suspect Alison of being A. But haven’t we already considered plenty of people and the majority of our guesses ended up dead? Well, we still suspect Alison because in the finale, Mona was murdered by a blonde girl who closely resembles our dear Ali. And if you kept up with the Christmas Special episode, how could you not be dying to watch the rest of this season?

Revenge

ABC, Channel 13

We left off in the winter finale with our main eye-candy being shot. Our beloved Daniel is now off the show, but we still watch to see what happens next. How could you not with Emily’s father back and in a romance with the wicked Victoria?

Glee

FOX, Channel 2

Glee returned on January 9th for its sixth and final season. Nothing is the same after Cory Monteith passed away, yet the show goes on for its last season. All you Gleeks, keep on gleeking out as you watch the fate of all these odd balls trying to find their place in the world.

These upcoming weeks show the return of Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, Jane the Virgin, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and many more. Just in case you missed the series premieres of some of these shows, here’s what a few of them are about.

Jane the Virgin

CW, Channel 3

Returning Monday, January 19

Our dear Jane begins the series by being accidently artificially inseminated. Of course, all of this is awful timing and completely absurd because 1) she’s a virgin, 2) she’s engaged to a guy Michael, and 3) the donor is an old flame of hers. Each episode shows new problems arising like treacherous scandals, the return of her father, and drama that will leave you in shock as the episode ends. Catch up on Hulu Plus to watch the rest of the first season!

How to Get Away With Murder

ABC, Channel 13

Returning Thursday, January 29

Who said college classes were boring? Try taking a class with Annalise Keating, a lawyer and professor who selects her best students to assist her with criminal cases she is representing. Everyone has their secrets, but how do all of these secrets end up intertwined with each other? Cheating, scheming, and mystery surround this new thriller. You’ll never end an episode without screaming in frustration due to having to wait another week for an episode.

While some of you slackers may have missed the return of these amazing shows, you can easily catch up while you anticipate the return of other shows. A complete list of every returning television show this winter can be found here. Happy watching!
