Junior Alaisha Key is a journalism major with a double minor in theater and art. She is currently completing an internship in Washington D.C. She was able to take time away from her busy schedule to answer a few questions for Her Campus.
Her Campus Mercer: What campus activities are you involved in and what position do you hold in each?
Key: No current positions since in DC, but here is last semester’s: Society of Collegiate Journalists, Mercer99, Habitat for Humanity (Former Public Relations Chair), Phi Eta Sigma (Former Treasurer), The Cluster (staff writer), Dean’s List, President’s List and I have worked in the Mercer library.
HCM: How has your experience in D.C. been and in what ways will it further your future aspirations?
Key: My experience here has been life changing. D.C. is such a great city with so much history. It’s just so alive and fast-paced. I love it! I’ve even found a new passion for the web and video production, so I am definitely going to purse the two fields more.
HCM: What are your plans after graduation?
Key: Being in the program, I have been exposed to the world of multimedia and there are just so many things that I want to do. I am thinking of pursuing either a Graduate Degree in Film & Television Production or some type of multimedia degree in Journalism.
HCM: What is your favorite place to visit?
Key: I love to go to the beach, any beach. Though my high school chorus trip to Hawaii takes the cake!!
HCM: What is your favorite food?
Key: Italian, basically anything involving pasta and I’m there.
HCM: What is the most memorable/funny experience you recall?
Key: Tough question. At Mercer, it would be the day I was inducted into Phi Eta Sigma. My parents and my little brother came up, and a lot of my friends came to see me get inducted. Then afterwards my parents took us all out to eat at Mikatas (Japanese restaurant)! I was just a great day with friends and family. Another would be the day I told everyone that I was coming here for the semester. That was memorable! But I did have two besties come visit me and I showed them the city.
