5 Must See Closet Costumes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mercer chapter.

It’s 10 o’clock in the evening on October 31 and you have nothing to wear, don’t panic! Take a deep breath, let it out and read up on some of the easiest and cheapest Halloween costumes that can be found inside your closet.

1. Greek Goddess – One word: Toga. That’s right girl, tug those bed sheets off and get a little freaky. After securing your toga don’t forget to accessorize! A simple belt will accentuate your waist and
some gold jewelry to add to the effect. As for hair and makeup it is best to go simple with a messy braid and light eye shadow. (When in doubt, Pintrest it!)
For a simple toga check out this link: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Toga-out-of-a-Bedsheet

2. Hippie – This one is my personal favorite. Jeans, loose t-shirt and vest combo, throw in a scarf and you are golden. As for the accessories some thick bangles, simple earrings, and a few flowers in the hair. Make up can get a little tricky but it is best to go with the “simple is better” motto.

3. Anything 80’s – From divas to yoga instructors this one is easy to pull off. If you are going the diva route, pull out that short sparkly dress and sassy pumps because you are bound to knock someone out tonight! If you have any doubts about make up or jewelry, check out Katy Perry in her “Last Friday Night” music video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlyXNRrsk4A).

4. Go Famous – This is one night where it is okay to be a copy cat. From Taylor Swift to the Spice Girls the options are endless. My personal favorite imitation is Ke$ha: short-shorts, fishnets, ripped up tank top
and boots. Toss some random jewelry on (it doesn’t have to match), heavy eyeliner, and some glitter in the hair. That’s copy cat perfection at its best. ).

5. Cowgirl – You don’t need to ride a horse to be one, you just need to look like one. Barely there make up combined loose hair match perfectly with jeans (shorts or pants will do) and a white t-shirt topped off with cowgirl boots. Hats are optional.
