Tattoos might hurt, but they are well worth it. Today, I thought I’d share with you my tattoos and what they mean to me.

I wanted to share this because there are some people out there that say I’m too young for three tattoos. But I’m here to say I’m not. These are things I am proud to have on my body for the rest of my life and honestly, I’m already planning my next tattoo (sorry mom and dad, but hey, it’s not for a while). Getting tattoos does hurt, but the pain is worth it in the end. If you’re thinking about getting one, say fuck it and do it.

Without further to do, here is my list.

Tattoo Number 1: July 14, 2017

This is the caterpillar with the date. This is for my grandfather, who means more than the world to me. He died September 23, 2007 and yet, it still feels like it was yesterday. The caterpillar had a whole meaning to it and I can’t quite remember, but I knew it was important.

Tattoo Number 2: January 28, 2018

This is “The Author” with a semi colon. If you don’t know about the semi colon project, it’s worth the look. But I specifically chose this interpretation because what really sticks out to me about the project is “an author chooses a semi colon not to end a sentence, but to continue it, as we are the authors of our lives.”

Tattoo Number 3: March 23, 2018

This is the other one I haven’t mentioned (I visually don’t know how to describe this). I saw this design on a website and wondered if it had any meaning, and it does. It symbolizes the different transitions in life (infant to toddler, toddler to child, so on and so forth). But for me, this means going from a dark, kind of unspeakable place, to a place where I’m learning who I am and what I’m meant to be doing.

My last 2 were done by my good friend Marcos who runs Lucky Cat Tattoo here in North Adams. So if you are an MCLA student, go to him, he’s great! My other tattoo was done in a shop in West Boylston, Massachusetts. They are Zaza Ink and they are great people. If you are from that area or live in that area, go check them out!
