Review of Deville Dinerbar: The Perfect Night Out

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McGill chapter.

It’s not hard to find amazing restaurants and bars in Montreal but the hard part is choosing which ones to go to. My new favourite is Deville Dinerbar located on Stanley Street, just a few blocks away from campus. With delicious food and drinks, you surely cannot go wrong with this choice.

After recently attending with a group of girlfriends for my birthday, I had an amazing time. The atmosphere was chic with dim pink lighting to set the mood, cool diner style tables and booths, and great music (which usually is not the case in restaurants).

Let’s start with the drinks first. I have never seen such a long list of beverages, ranging from unique flavoured martinis, to fish bowl drinks. You have to see it to believe how large these drinks actually are! Don’t be shocked at the price (average was $25): it is such a large drink that you can share it with two or three friends. Trust me, it’s worth ordering. I would suggest the sangria fish bowl, and they have all the other classics as well (another suggestion would be the strawberry mojto).

Next, the food. I had a mouth-watering wild mushroom burger with a cilantro and salsa topping, along with the best french fries I have had in a while. They were thin and light, allowing me to feel like I wasn’t stuffed to the brim with food. Popular choices among my friends were the salads and club sandwiches. The Deville Macho Salad fetured a mix of chicken, tomatoes, goat cheese, avocado, dates, almonds, croutons and a vinaigrette that was especially enjoyed. Another popular menu item was the General Tao Salad which included carrots, chicken, sprouts, cashews, pineapple and wonton noodles with a Hunan Sesame vinaigrette. Also, the classic Ceasear Salad was well received.

My friends raved about the club sandwhich, which had chicken, avocado, bacon, tomatoes, maple dijon sauce, and came stacked with brioche bread. The prices were student friendly and everyone took leftovers home which was a nice bonus.

Deville Dinerbar is the place for both  fancy or casual attire. It is the perfect place to go on a fun date or with a large group. I would definitely suggest going here for a birthday or celebration and hitting the town afterwards, feeling stuffed and content wih the most delicious drinks and food. You won’t regret coming here, even if you do splash out a little on a fish bowl drink (trust me, it is worth every penny).
