Restaurant Roundup: Ye Olde Orchard Pub

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McGill chapter.

Ye Olde Orchard Pub, which has 6 locations around Montreal, serves up delicious Celtic pub food with an Indian flare, alongside well-priced beers and cocktails. My roommates and I frequent the pub, at 20 Prince Arthur St. West, which is right on our walk home from campus. Up until recently, we had only been enjoying the pub’s awesome drink options, as it’s one of the only places offering Shock Top on tap that we have found. However, we’ve more recently been exploring the diverse menu they offer…

Ye Olde offers traditional burgers, fish n chips, and poutine, in addition to dishes with more of a unique twist: their curry poutine is deliciously different and their naan pizza is also a great choice. The menu is a fabulous fusion of typical pub choices, combined with adventurous and exciting dishes.

I opted for the traditional steak frites with a side salad, due to being extremely hungry. My roommates tried the mahi mahi and the veggie curry as well. The side salad was surprisingly delicious, with a prominent vinaigrette and perfectly crisp vegetables. The veggie curry was sweeter than expected, but a tasty and generous portion nonetheless.

The mahi mahi balanced a sweet and sour sauce atop jasmine rice, a healthy but filling meal; whilst my dish, of steak frites, was perfectly indulgent with a tangy gravy sauce and roasted vegetables. The portion of fries was massive… Pure perfection!

Overall, this pub boasts great food and well-priced drinks; whilst their constant themed nights make it a great place for a casual night of drinking… However, they are open until 3am most nights, which can result in a casual night turning into a much later night than expected!
