This week, Her Campus McGill’s giveaway was fantastic mascara given to us by makeup artist and sales representative Sharon Dahan on behalf of Younique. Younique’s 3D Fiber Lash mascara is unlike any other product you’ll use; better than falsies by far! Her Campus correspondent Alexandra Bilhete caught up with Sharon to ask her about makeup and beauty.
Alexandra Bilhete for Her Campus McGill (HC McGill): Tell us a bit about yourself and what inspired you to work in the makeup industry?
Sharaon Dahan (SD): I’m 24 years old, working as a legal secretary and sales representative for Younique Makeup. I enjoy reading and finding out about new beauty products. I love discovering new hair products, and more! In my spare time I enjoy trying new artistic things such as painting. At first, I was looking for a new opportunity in my life, a new project to commit myself to. I have always loved makeup and thought I might try to be a sales representative for Avon or Mary Kay. Then one day I saw an advertisement for Younique and immediately fell in love with their products! People started commenting on my mascara, eye shadow – I was really getting positive attention! That’s when I decided to work for Younique, and I love the product because it truly is natural makeup.
HC McGill: What products does Younique sell, and what makes them unique?
SD: To begin, everything we sell is all natural; Think about this, we wear makeup daily on our face and skin, so using a healthy product is extremely important for lasting beauty. HC McGill: What is your favourite makeup product and why?

HC MCGill: Here’s a fun question: If you could only wear one sort of makeup every day for the rest of your life, what would you pick and why?
SD: One item!? You’re now asking for the impossible! If I had to answer I’d say black eyeliner– it just defines your face and brings out the eyes, which we all know is the window into a woman’s soul! (Oh, and an eye-lash curler.. that’s my second go-to tool).
HC McGill: Has working in the makeup industry altered your conception of beauty?
SD: Yes, and in many ways. I never cared about natural hair or makeup products before; it was at the bottom of my list. I thought, why would I invest in something three times the price? But using Younique products has shown me that using all natural makeup with high quality ingredients contributes to your overall health. Since swapping to Younique, I never break out and have such soft skin.
HC McGill: Do you think women need to wear makeup to be beautiful?
SD: Absolutely not! Girls love dressing up, getting pampered and having fun mixing shades and colours of eye shadow, lipstick and blush. Wearing makeup is only half the fun, the real pleasure is being your own “Younique” artists and putting it on, expressing yourself!
