Giving Thanks: Favourite Eateries on Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McGill chapter.

Given that Thanksgiving weekend recently passed, it’s time for my yearly reflection on the things in my life that I feel thankful for. But while I am and have always been incredibly grateful for my loved ones, sometimes the little things too can make or break one’s day – and those little things never get enough of our appreciation. So – being the food lover that I am – I’m gonna dedicate this post to the campus eateries that have made even my difficult semesters here at McGill a little more bearable.

1. Bocadillo’s (SSMU caf): While it’s really important it is to eat healthy, sometimes you just gotta have a good ol’ burger and some fries. And this place always delivers – I still can’t get enough of their pulled pork sandwich or their yummy fries. So thank you, Bocadillo’s, for the best greasy food on campus, for your generous proportions, and for your wonderful and friendly servers.

2. AUS Snax (Leacock): Decent coffee for a loonie, located right inside the main floor of the Leacock building – this place is a godsend when I’m running late for an early class. Thanks, Snax, for gratifying my caffeine fix on the regular without straining my wallet or my patience. I can’t imagine what I’d do without you (or coffee).

3. Samosas (EVERYWHERE!): Oh, samosas. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. You show up in unexpected places all over campus. You are filling and oh-so-cheap, and therefore perfect for those days when I’m running low on cash, or the days when I have an unexpectedly large appetite and need a quick snack in between classes. You are the perfect amalgamation of savoury and sweet, and it’s hard to get sick of you. I could go on and on and on. So, on behalf of everyone at McGill, thank you, samosa sales, for existing, and for essentially becoming a campus staple. And thank you for inspiring Samosatopia, which is one of the best uses of Twitter I’ve ever seen.
