Name: Lauren Wingo

Age: 20 (Almost 21!)

Year: Junior/2016

Major: Criminal Justice

Hometown: Loudoun County, VA

Relationship Status: Taken

What are some of your hobbies/activities? I love to write, read, and watch countless hours of Grey’s Anatomy.

3 words to describe yourself: I probably would describe myself as compassionate, caring and a hard worker.

What is your favorite thing to do at Marymount? I enjoy going to the library when I can. I am a huge book nerd. I love to be surrounded by books.

What qualities would you say stand out the most in a significant other? Honesty. To me, that’s the most important part of a relationship. As for a quality, it’s the smile. The smile gets me every time.

Why did you choose Marymount? I loved Marymount’s Criminal Justice program and the fact that we’re so close to D.C. (favorite place in the world). My best college decision so far has been to choose that major. I found my passion in that as well as psychology.

What is the biggest obstacle you’ve had to overcome? Insecurities. I have lost friends and have been hurt through circumstances that I cannot control. It’s been a struggle, but I work on it every day.

What’s your spirit animal and why? I would probably say a wolf. Family is everything to me and I will defend them with my life. I also have a deep connection with my instincts and I usually trust them. I feel that wolves are a lot like that as well.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Oh my goodness, I can’t choose- I want to see everything the world has to offer! What’s on my agenda right now is studying abroad in Ireland! Number one choice. I’m stoked.

Who is your MCE (Man Crush Everyday)? My boyfriend. I know that’s cliche’ but he is the love of my life.

Hot or Not?

Leonardo DiCaprio? Hot. I have always been a fan of his acting.

Birkenstocks? Not.. for me. I’m sure some people can pull them off but I certainly cannot!

This or That?

Make up or no make up? Natural is always my go-to but I love to play up my smaller eyes with mascara and shadows.

Ice cream or chocolate? Ice cream. I didn’t work at Cold Stone for three years just for the money ;)

If you could do one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? Travel, see as much of the world as I can. I am inspired by other cultures. I want to see it all.

It’s a Saturday night, where can you be found? Spending time with my family, boyfriend or just having some time to myself. I need some downtime. I’m not a person you would find at a rave.

What’s your favorite candy and why? Zero bars. They are difficult to find since they have been around for decades and seem to be forgotten, but when I do find them they make my life a bit brighter.

If you could choose anything to be on Halloween, what would you be? Hermione Granger. Yes… I am one of those crazy Harry Potter fans. Second choice would probably be someone from a masquerade ball. Masks fascinate me and I’m in love with ballgowns.

What is your favorite movie? This question stumps me every time. Are we talking favorite overall? Or favorite as of right now? Because they are always changing. Overall, I would have to go with Defiance with Daniel Craig, Schindler’s List, or Saving Private Ryan. I love WWII movies.

What’s your ideal date? An all day date. Breakfast at a diner, sight-seeing in DC, museums, going to a movie, and then a sweet dinner. Sometimes the best dates are completely spontaneous and simple. My boyfriend and I can make grocery shopping a fun date! That’s a talent.

What is a surprising fact about you? I am very flexible and double jointed. I’ve been able to do the splits since I was a kid; it’s also kind of fun to be able to lick your own elbow.

If you had an unlimited amount of money, what would you do with it? Wow. That is a loaded question. Of course I would use most of it to travel and open up a bakery, one of my many dreams. I also wouldn’t neglect any charity that fights for a good cause. And if I had it right now, I would definitely be donating it to the people of West Africa and their fight against the horrific Ebola virus.

What are your favorite qualities about others? People who respect other people. Respect has become something so overlooked and underrated, but the thing is you really don’t know what affect you have on another person’s life. It’s insane.

What is your favorite quote/motto? I am in love with words. I have so many quotes that mean everything to me but right now my favorite is: “Nothing haunts us like the words we don’t say” – Mitch Albom. This quote is so true in every aspect of life. I always feel like it’s better to say what you need/think/feel than to say nothing at all. The only regret is not knowing.
