Throwback to the 90s: Slimefest!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Maryland chapter.

Slinkys, tamagotchi, boy bands, Walkman’s — who wouldn’t want to go back to the 90s?On Saturday, April 6, Zeta Tau Alpha and Kappa Sigma hosted an event that was truly a blast from the past. The event was called Slimefest, branching off of the ongoing 90s trend of sliming kids on game shows (which we all know we raced home from school to watch every day). The two greek organizations teamed up to host an awesome day filled with food, slime, 90s music and overall philanthropic fun.

Anyone who was not participating in games was able to come out and enjoy the beautiful weather (finally), the best of the 90s music, and all you can eat barbecue for $5.00. All proceeds, approximately $1,000, were donated towards Breast Cancer Education and Awareness.

Ten teams of four signed up to participate in four 90s game show games: Legends of the Hidden Temple, Guts, Figure it Out, and Double Dare. A giant trash can was filled with pink slime just waiting to target competitors throughout the competition (using super-soakers, of course). The winning team was awarded a trophy and all teams enjoyed one last massive slime fight once the competition was over, 90s kid style.

Zeta Tau Alpha and Kappa Sigma had the best time planning the event and enjoyed the throwback to the 90s. They couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day and were absolutely thrilled with the turnout!
