Chill Out And Ski With Allia Ruparelia!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Maryland chapter.

Winter break was a time for relaxation, but also a time for people to get sporty and hit the slopes. If you have a love for skiing or snowboarding, you need to join Terpski!

I had the chance to talk to senior Terpski member Allia Ruparelia, who has been skiing since she was young and found this club the best way to meet new people while also participating in a sport she loved.

Here is what Allia had to say:

Q: What made you want to get involved with Terpski?

I wanted to be a part of something other than my sorority and I’ve been skiing since I was 2 [years old], so I thought this would be a really good opportunity to explore more of what is out there on campus and be able to meet a whole new group of people who had the same interests as me.

Q: Do you need to be an expert skier to join?

Not at all! We take all levels of skiers and snowboarders. There are some people who come simply to travel and hang out with friends!

Q: What has been your favorite experience thus far?

My favorite experience thus far was our trip out West to Jackson Hole, WY. Not only was it the absolute best skiing I’ve ever done in my life, but the town and culture there was incredible. Not to mention we brought an amazing group of Terpski members with us so that was just a fun time.

Q: Where is your favorite place to ski, or that Terpski has gone to?

Well I’ll refer back to the last question because Jackson Hole was definitely the coolest place ever. I think my second favorite is where I just was this past winter, Whistler Blackomb in British Columbia, Canada.

Q: Can you describe a typical trip?

A typical trip consists of transportation to a specific hill, then a place to stay like condos or a really nice hotel room, and then a certain number of days of skiing along with options for fun things to do at night.

Q: Why should people join this club?

People should join this club because it is an incredible way to meet people while doing something that you love. The people that are in Terpski are fun, diverse, looking for an adventure and just a well-rounded group of college kids. The best part is, is that they aren’t just University of Maryland students. Our club welcomes anyone and everyone!
