Grabbing Lunch Made EasyBy October 17, 2012 - 6:40pm Lunchtime at Adele H. Stamp Student Union is very, for a lack of a better word, crowded. The amount of students trying to get in a meal before class is overwhelming. Moby Dick, Panda Express, and even Chick-fil-a lines people up between 11:30 AM and 2 PM. In the following paragraphs, I will give you my humble, freshman opinion on some of the choices offered at the Student Union. READ MORE |

Maryland Students love their school: The tough process of becoming an Images Tour Guide!By October 13, 2012 - 6:52pm Maryland students have a lot of pride in their school. How so do you say? Well, this year, 215 students applied to be an Images Tour Guide. That is a hefty number considering that the position is volunteer only. Out of the 215 who applied, only 45 students were accepted this semester to be a tour guide. A tour guide has a tremendous weight on her shoulders. Her tour influences whether a prospective student wants to come to Maryland or not. An Images Tour Guide must highlight the very best of Maryland by being personable and informative. READ MORE |

Don't Miss Out - Plan to Study Abroad During Your College Career!By October 9, 2012 - 8:00am Three years ago, I met a prostitute in Amsterdam’s Red Light District. A Freshman Finding Her Way Through University of Maryland's First Look FairBy October 8, 2012 - 11:29am On September 12, 2012, every student at the University of Maryland came out to the tables on McKeldin Mall to show how much students participated outside the classroom. The First Look Fair was an annual event held on the Mall for students to come out, see what organizations the University offered, and get invoved! Here I am, a wide- eyed freshman thinking that there is no time to participate in anything other than a late night study session at the library because of the amount of work given in college was too extensive to do anything else- but the First Look Fair proved me wrong. Hundreds of students were outside on this hot day to get freshman, like myself, interested in something bigger than schoolwork and deadlines.... |

Finding Your Passion: Why I Changed My MajorBy October 5, 2012 - 9:56am “When I grow up, I want to be….” It sounded so simple years ago. A doctor, a teacher, a lawyer, the possibilities were endless. Until the fateful day comes when you must apply to colleges and decide what it is you would like to pursue for the next four years and beyond. I recall, not so long ago, sitting at an information session at Syracuse University. A young student and tour guide spoke to the group of perspective students about beginning a new chapter at a university of your choice. What stood out to me however, was a statistic, believe it or not. READ MORE |

Fresh Perspective: Being a Freshman at College ParkBy October 4, 2012 - 10:29pm Coming to a school thirty minutes away from home did not seem like it would be that big of an adjustment. Not to mention that I was coming here along with thirty other girls from my high school. Yet, the transition to life at college has been a journey so far. I’ve taken the metro to D.C. by myself, gotten covered in paint at a huge concert, and gotten background checked for a volunteer tutoring job. So far, so good (and kind of weird). READ MORE |
