This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Maryland chapter.

Every fall at the start of the school year, collegiettes everywhere dream about tailgate season. There is nothing more exciting than the day of a football game. That day thats includes waking up and getting ready with all your best friends, tailgating, going to the football game, and partying with your friends after a big win. Because these days are so fun and exciting, everyone wants to look their best. If you are struggling with what to wear, here are Her Campus approved outfits of fellow Terps spotted at gameday tailgates!

Kelsey Kroning, a sophomore aspiring broadcast journalism major, cut her shirt in a new and sexy way and matched it with very cool checkered shorts, polka dot knee-high socks, and rain boots. This outfit is perfect for tailgate days when it rain is in the forecast! Don’t be afraid to match patterns because it really does work!

Kaley Smith, a sophomore finance major, wore her hair up in a giant University of Maryland patterned bow. It is very cute and it is a fun and different way to do your hair for a tailgate. When it comes to tailgating, the bigger and bolder, the better.

Another good idea for a tailgate outfit is to represent where you work or a club that you are involved in on campus. Marie Kiley, a sophomore nursing major, represented Adele’s because she works there! She accessorized with a lacey bralet to dress up the look!

Junior Francesca Santini also rocked a black lacey bralet to the tailgate. She matched it with a Maryland tank tucked into distressed jean shorts and grey Converse sneakers. Bralets are extremely comfortable and cute to wear to the tailgates and are the hottest things besides crop tops right now.

Route 1 Apparel has really stepped up its game this year and representing College Park at tailgates has become a big trend! Caroline Myers, a junior communications and marketing double major, wore this cute pink I Heart College Park t-shirt she transformed into a tank.

This was one of the best t-shirts I saw all day! It is perfect for tailgating and is hilariously witty. Shirts like this one make for good conversation starters! Hannah Albero, a sophomore economics major, wore this t-shirt to the tailgate, and made everyone’s day a little better!

Sophomore Kristina Albano, looked fabulous in her Maryland bandeau and overall shorts! Wearing overall shorts is another idea of what to wear to a tailgate instead of plain jean shorts! They look extremely cute when paired with the Maryland bandeau and would look good with any bandeau in Maryland’s school colors!

If you are looking for new ways to cut a Maryland t-shirt, here’s how three girls did theirs!

Abbie Lemmy, a sophomore neurobiology major, was inspired by the Ed Hardy look when she cut her shirt! It is both edgy and comfortable and takes a plain tee to another level. Abbie got the idea to do this by watching this YouTube video.

Kim Oldakowsi, a sophomore business major, owes her game day look to her friend who kindly designed and let her borrow this attention-grabbing design. Kim’s choice to wear a red bralet looks great with the red bow used to tie the back of the shirt together! Borrowing clothes is a great way to look cute, vary up your look and save money in college!

Lastly, Alex Lebovic, a sophomore pre-vet major, cut the bottom of her t-shirt to give it a frayed look and cut off the collar and sleeves. She completely transformed this old Homecoming tank!

So, if you’re looking for new ideas for tailgate outfits remember:

  1. Don’t be afraid to wear bold patterns or big bows!

  2. Represent your club or work!

  3. Bralets are very in and look good with a variety of shirts.

  4. Look to your friends or YouTube for ideas on how to cut a boring t-shirt to make it cute.
