If you were one of the hundreds who attended Alpha Phiesta last week, you have Lindsay to thank. From clinicals to planning and executing the best taco event of the year, Lindsay works hard at everything she does. She’s well known on campus for her big heart and big personality–and if you ever need a friend to have a killer night with you, she’s the one to call. Chances are, you’ve met her. If not, what are you waiting for? Get to know the lovely LB.
Name: Lindsay Burns
Major: Nursing
Year: Senior
Hometown: Eagan, Minnesota
Greek affiliation: Yes, Alpha Phi
LB: Marquette was actually the first college I toured and I was instantly swept off my feet. I knew I wanted to try out a new city; but one that was close enough so I could travel home when I missed the fam. I was sitting in Sobelmans and within one bite of that burger I knew MU was the place for me (and have only reaffirmed that every day since)!
LB: Watching a rom com or doing homework — either way with a glass of wine in hand!
HCMU: What is the most memorable thing that you’ve done as a Marquette student?
LB: Well, it is basically impossible to pick just one. Some of my favorite Marquette memories, though, are participating in my first Mardi Gras service trip, MUBB game days, our Alpha Phi dad’s weekend called Papa Phi’s, Friendsgiving (Thanksgiving dinner with all your best friends, what could be better?), that one day we took a bus to Alpine for the Jimmy Buffett concert, and Summerfest is always a crowd favorite!
HCMU: What’s your favorite Milwaukee restaurant and/or bar?
LB: Not to be too basic but I always love a good brunch at Benelux and Wolf Peach. Rock ‘n Roll Sushi is a great place if you’re feeling up for some incredible sushi. I also love Old German Beer Hall on game days!
HCMU: What advice would you give to freshmen?
LB: You probably won’t actually meet your husband at the square dance, use your meal swipes to your advantage because juniors and seniors want them, make friends with the people in the triples, DON’T go to Victor’s, get involved on campus, study abroad if given the opportunity, and enjoy every minute of the next four years. They go by way faster than you want.
HCMU: What is your dream job?
LB: After studying abroad in Ireland last semester, I have quite the travel bug and would love to become a traveling nurse for a few years. During that time, I would love to invest in a nice camera and do some photography on the side. If I could somehow throw being a yoga instructor in there, that would be the dream.
HCMU: Something that people would not be able to guess about you?
LB: My front teeth are fake. I chipped them swinging a baseball bat in second grade. How that is even possible, I do not know.
Thanks, Lindsay!
