Things to Look Forward To This Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LUC chapter.

Loyola is home to a number of seasonal festivities. If you’re a freshman, or simply just need some inspiration since you’ve been buried in the stacks since syllabus week, check out some things to look forward to!

Fall:

September is arguably one of the best months in Chicago, when the breeze is cool enough to not put you into a sweat-induced frenzy, but still warm enough to allow you to bask in the final moment of summer on the quad. October comes and so do the beautiful fall colors. Take some time to be basic and take a ~trendy~ pic with your friends on the quad throwing up leaves and drinking your PSLs.

Winter:

Winter in Chicago is, well, brutal. But, by enjoying the sweet holiday sentiments Loyola offers, you can make sure your heart doesn’t go as cold as the thermometer. Dining halls always have a Thanksgiving meal, as if you needed an excuse to pregame your food coma on the actual day. Beat finals stress with the adorable ice rink in Damen and snap a selfie in front of the giant Christmas tree. Don’t forget about the infamous finals breakfast, otherwise referred to as a finals week saving grace.

Spring:

St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago is so much more than a holiday in Chicago – in fact – it’s a lifestyle. Start gathering green accessories now. It’ll make waking up at 5 am to get ready for parade festivities SO much easier. Celebrate the weather getting warmer by taking a stroll on Michigan Avenue. Nothing is more beautiful than seeing the beautiful flowers bloom! (And then wake up grumpy when you realize it’s back to single digits the next day).

Being a college student in Chicago is an unparalleled experience. Enjoy it, and don’t forget to share your favorite Chicago activities with Her Campus!
