5 Ways to Celebrate Galentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

If you don’t have a special someone, or even if you do, it is always good to show your girls how much they mean to you! Here are some fun ideas to show your friends you love them as much as Leslie Knope loves Ann Perkins.

  1. Treat Yo Self (and your girls) to a dinner out. It doesn’t have to be anywhere fancy; you can even get takeout! During the middle of the semester, it’s hard to get away from all your work and responsibilities to have some quality girl time, but Galentine’s is the perfect opportunity. Take this time to catch up and reconnect!

  2. Bake Galentine’s themed cookies! (Or just buy those delicious ones with the pink frosting) I was blessed with a roommate who loves to bake, but in case baking is not your thing (or your roommate’s), take the day to indulge your sweet tooth in any way you can! If you like to bake, making and decorating cookies is a great way to get in some girl time.

  3. Have a movie marathon! Spend a night in and watch all your favorites (Mean Girls). Galentine’s is the perfect time to just be lazy and spend the night in your pajamas!

  4. Make cards with special notes for your close girl friends. It always feels great to hear what your friends appreciate about you. You can use store-bought or homemade valentines and customize them for your friends. This way they will have something to look back on when they are feeling down or stressed that reminds them how much you love them!

  5. If you don’t live close to your friends from high school, plan to FaceTime. You can also use the Houseparty app, which allows you to FaceTime with more than one person at a time. Planning a time to talk with friends who go to a different college will help to maintain important friendships and help so you don’t fall out of touch. Think of it as a mini reunion!
