Guide to Pacing Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lehigh chapter.

With two extra days off of school, campus is buzzing about plans for Pacing Break. Most people, however, see this vacation as an opportunity to sleep. There’s plenty of time for that, but there are also some really amazing things that you can do with your family, friends, or all by yourself while you relax at home. Instead of sleeping throughout the entire weekend, here’s some ideas to make your break an amazing one this weekend!

Go Pumpkin Picking With Your Family- ‘Tis the season for pumpkin pies, falling leaves, and bonding with the family! Take a ride out to the countryside for some quality time for the ones you love. Doesn’t it sound relaxing to trek the fields on a Saturday morning and pick out the most beautiful pumpkin to carve a funny face in? It’s a time to catch up with your siblings, tell your mom about school, or watch your dad make a fool out of himself trying to carry the hugest pumpkin in the patch.

Hit the Spa for Some R&R- Pacing Break is a time for quality time with me, myself, and I. The best way to unwind from the stress of 4 o’clocks is to definitely treat yourself to a spa day. Get a mani/pedi, a back massage, or maybe even a facial. Even if you can’t make it to the actual spa, there are multiple at-home spa remedies that can be created to rejuvenate your skin and hair before you come back to Lehigh.

Find a New TV Show to Obsess Over- Whether it is Breaking Bad, Orange Is The New Black, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, or another cult classic, find your new favorite show over Pacing Break. It might still be sitting on the couch at home, but watching these shows will make you feel like you’re right there in the action. Even if you just get the main idea of the show, it will give you a new topic to break the ice with the cute boy in your Physics recitation.

Visit Your Old High School- When you’re back at home, sometimes you just need to feel like a kid again. Visiting your old high school can bring back all those feelings of your high school boyfriend, your best friends, and how everything has changed (for the better!) since you’ve gotten to Lehigh. Go see your favorite high school teachers and let them know what you’ve been up to. You never know if the relationship with your teacher can turn into a reference for a future internship!

No matter what you do over Packing Break, make it one to remember! Don’t just sit on the couch sleeping all day. Get up, get out, and have some fun!
