Navigating Your Nights At Lehigh

By Courtney Turiano
October 14, 2012 - 9:14pm

Coming to Lehigh is a huge change from what everyone is used to, with
something going on every night. Whether it’s Wacky Wednesday or Thirsty Thursday,
here’s what you need to know to get help you navigate your nights at Lehigh. 1) When it starts to get cold out, you need to start wearing something to keep you warm
walking up and down the hill. Buy yourself a few cheap “frackets” that you wouldn’t
mind losing at parties (face it, you are bound to leave it there at some point or
another). My suggestion? Go to Marshall’s and buy a ton of zip-up sweatshirts. READ MORE

Fall Fashion

By Andrea Wroble
October 7, 2012 - 10:32pm

With the onset of autumn come crisp temperatures, falling leaves, and beautiful colors. As we pull out our boots from the cobwebs in our closets we also bring back those cozy sweaters, corduroys, and of course, vests. With the new season comes a whole new palette of colors. Summer was full of neon and pastels, so this year instead of resorting to the greys, crèmes and blacks we all know and love; let’s bring some fall color into that wardrobe. READ MORE

Things I Learned By Moving From the West Coast to the East Coast

By Ariana Hewitt
September 30, 2012 - 8:28pm

I have lived in Los Angeles for practically my entire life. I always knew that when it came time for me to start applying to colleges, I would not be allowed to look at schools on the West Coast. My parents are both from the East Coast; my mom is from New York and my dad is from Boston. They made it very clear to my brother and me that we were to get out of the “Los Angeles bubble” and see what life is like on the East Coast. My brother went to Syracuse University and now lives in Baltimore, MD. I, on the other hand, started Lehigh University only a few short weeks ago.
Coming to the East Coast was more of a culture shock than I thought it would be. While living on the East Coast, I have learned many things that West Coasters should not do while...

Bad Reputations

By Andrea Wroble

Bad Reputations All right, so you go to Lehigh. Chances are, in high school, you were kind of a nerd. I mean that’s just what you get when the admissions website literally reads, “Lehigh is among the most selective, highly ranked private research universities in the U.S.”
But, now that you’re at college, there are those naughty temptations, those underlying urges that you truly cannot resist. We understand, it is your chance to break free of the nerd stereotype and become the one thing you never thought possible…a BADASS!
Unfortunately, as much as we crave bad reputations, they don’t exactly fly at Lehigh. Here are some names you don’t want to make for yourself while at college. READ MORE

Survival Guide to Mocos

By Kara Falcone and Alex Lanphier
August 26, 2012 - 6:14pm

Mocos- Lehigh’s bizarre and unique way of tailgating. Most colleges have football games in the late afternoon or evening, allowing students to sleep in and tailgate at normal times. Lehigh has football games at 12:30 pm. This means pregames may start as early as 9 am. Most colleges dress in school colors and gear for football games. Although we are blessed to have such beautiful colors of brown and white, Lehigh students started a tradition long ago of wearing absolutely absurd and ridiculous outfits to football games. I’ve seen everything from bright red footie pajamas to full denim outfits – nothing is out of the question. Here are a few essentials you should stock up on before your first Mocos experience. ...

A Friend Named Sim

By Nadja Delgado
April 22, 2012 - 10:07pm

Let me tell you a love story.  Better yet, let me tell you one we can all relate to, without much sappiness or emotion involved. But this is indeed a love story; it is one that includes companions that are together till the end.

Imagine a relationship where on the very first encounter there is an overwhelming feeling of excitement and newness swelling within you. You quickly find that this newfound friend serves as a convenient means of escape from reality. The more you delve into this relationship the harder it is to envision yourself without it. Dependency begins to sneakily make its way into this freshly formed bond.

Own The Night

By Nadja Delgado
April 9, 2012 - 10:49am

Has the night ever taken you? Has it ever stolen that shy, insecure you and traded it for someone incredible, invincible, and infinite? And you frolic and dance in this new, glamorous skin until the taste of the relentless morning wakes you, only to find that the night has reclaimed what was inevitably never yours to play with. You feel cheated. You feel that you somehow allowed that dark, slippery, sly thief strip you clean of that shameless persona you thought was yours to keep.

CulturalLehigh

When most Lehigh students think of culture, the South Side is not what comes to mind. More likely New York City, Washington D.C., or even the North Side pops into our heads before Lehigh’s side of the river. But the South Side has a lot more to offer than what meets the eye, specifically when it comes to food. Of course there are the tried and true student favorites of Sal’s and Molly’s, but far more diverse options are also available. Here are three South Side restaurants every Lehigh Student needs to try. READ MORE
