The Top 5 Festivals to go to this Summer!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Leeds chapter.

With the last of the snow disappearing and warm spring weather slowly coming our way, we’ve excitedly created a list of our top 5 festivals of summer 2013. Whether you’re all about the music and not missing your favourite artists, or more excited about camping in a muddy tent with your closest friends, one of these festivals is sure to appeal to you!

Tomorrowland Belgium – 26th to 28th July 2013

Tomorrowland is one of the largest electronic music festivals around, and this year will be taking place at De Schorre National Park in Boom, Belgium. Despite being a relatively new festival, it’s already a fan favourite: last year saw a high profile selection of artists perform, including Afrojack, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia and Steve Aoki. Although the lineup has not been officially released, tickets available to those living in Belgium have already sold out, showing the need to get in there fast with buying tickets! As an added bonus and for just £175, websites like www.musicfestivalholidays.co.uk are organizing coach travel to and from the festival, departing from various locations across the UK.

Worldwide tickets go on sale on February 16th!

UNKNOWN Rovinj, Croatia – 10th to 14th September 2013

The alternative to the already sold out Hideout Festival, Unknown is a brand new festival from the collaboration of Hideout, The Warehouse Project and Field Day. With an amazing lineup including live acts like Jessie Ware, Disclosure and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, and DJ sets from Jamie XX, Kerri Chandler and Jackmaster, this festival is full of forward thinking music.

The festival is taking place in an enormous forest next to a beautiful beach, and with accommodation options including camping, a forest lodge, or a 4* apartment, there will be something to suit everyone’s needs or preferences.

Early bird tickets are already on sale at only £99 plus booking fee, and accommodation can be booked from the 19th February! Get planning a fantastic and exciting end to your summer before returning to Leeds!

Glastonbury Pilton Farm, Glastonbury – 26th to 30th June 2013

Glastonbury is easily Britain’s biggest and most renowned festival. Thousands brave the often muddy event to become a part of the world’s largest greenfield music and performing arts festival. This year’s lineup has not yet been officially announced, but it’s pretty much guaranteed that you will find some of the greatest musicians of all time gracing the Pyramid stage. Previous years have seen artists such as U2, Oasis, Coldplay and Beyoncé perform. Though tickets sold out in record time (1 hour 40 minutes to be precise), on the 7th October, festival boss Emily Eavis revealed there would be a second chance to bag a ticket on the 21st April. There really is something for everyone at Glastonbury, from the Dance Village to the Acoustic Field. Tickets are priced at £216 including booking fee and P&P. To be in with a chance of claiming a Glasto ticket this year you will need to register on the website and be prepared for an early start. Good Luck!
