The Hunt for Vegan Easter Eggs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Leeds chapter.

Easter this year falls on Sunday April 16th, so there’s plenty of time to hunt for some vegan Easter treats. There are vegan friendly chocolate treats on offer all year round but that doesn’t mean vegans should miss out on the novelty of receiving chocolate eggs and bunnies! I’ve conducted a little Easter egg hunt myself to find the best vegan Easter eggs on the high street.

Sainsburys is a clear winner with the biggest choice, leading the way for vegans as they do in many other areas. Here’s some of the vegan Easter treats I found there:

  • Choices Dairy Free Caramel Easter Egg & Caramel Choices (120g) at £3.50/unit
  • Moo Free Original Organic Easter Egg with Buttons (120g) at £4/unit
  • Celtics Chocolates Dark Chocolate Easter Egg with Fine Dark Chocolate Mints (125g) at £3.50/unit
  • Sainsbury’s Free From Choc Egg & Discs (125g) at £3.50/unit
  • Sainsbury’s Free From White Choc  Egg & Buttons (65g) at £2.50/unit
  • Kinnerton Dairy Free Egg (195g) at £6/unit
  • Choices Dairy Free Milk/White Chocolate Bunny (40g) at £1/unit

If you’re looking to buy a few eggs, Moo Free Original Organic Easter Egg with Buttons and Moo Free Bunnycomb Easter Egg (the one that tastes a bit like a Crunchie!) are on 3 for £10 at Morrison’s until the 18th April.

If you’re looking for something a little bit different, there’s an extremely unusual egg on offer at Aldi this year. Look out for the blue Moser Roth Single Origin Easter Egg (in dark chocolate/giraffe print) at £4.99/unit in store.

For dark chocolate lovers, Hotel Chocolat offers a range of Easter treats. There’s a few classic egg shapes but you can also get some cute little critters! You can buy 16 City Bunnies (87g) at £5.50/unit. Or if chicks are more your thing, then you can buy 3 Chirping Chicks (25g) at £2.50/unit. Or if giant bunnies are your style, then you can buy The Big City Bunny (150g) at £7.50/unit.

Holland & Barrett also stocks a range of Moo Free and Choices Easter products, including:

  • Choices Dairy Free Caramels (125g) at £3.89/unit,
  • Dairy Free Good Life No Added Sugar Easter Egg (85g) at £3.99/unit,
  • Cocoa Libre Dairy Free Milk Chocolate Alternative Easter Chicks (100g) at £4.69/unit.

And there are many, many more available at Holland & Barrett too.

Have a little hunt around for yourself, see what you can find!
