3 Best Face Fake Tans

3 Best Face Fake Tans

Finally- we’ve had some sunshine in Leeds. The smell of BBQ lingers over Hyde Park and Terrace has been jam packed for days. It’s a good feeling!

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I always seem to have a fake tan (or gradual tanning moisturiser) lingering somewhere in my bedroom. So last week when I decided it was time to get my legs out, I just slapped on some Dove gradual tanning moisturiser. As if my magic my legs transformed from being offensively pale to having a sun kissed glow.

BUT, problems arise when my body looks like it’s been in the Bahamas but my face is translucent.  Face tanners can be problematic. I’m a skin care fanatic and hate shoving any old crap on my face because my skin is really sensitive. Even if your skin is flawless face tanners can be a tricky one, as nobody wants a streaky face tan (it’s not as easy to hide as some patchy armpits).

So, if you’re sick of piling on the bronzer or you love the bronzed goddess look then I’m here to help; I’ve tried and tested some face tanners.

Here are my top 3:

  1. L’Oréal Sublime Bronze (midrange)

This serum is currently priced at £15.99 in Bootsbut is often on sale so keep your eyes peeled.

This formula is a little sticky at first but is best applied after moisturiser just before bed. By the morning your skin has a sun kissed glow. The bottle recommends applying for three days in a row and you’re left with summery looking skin for around a week. It’s affordable for a large bottle and it hasn’t ever made me breakout.

  1. Clinique Face Bronzing Gel (high(er) range)

This gel is the most expensive recommendation on the list but sitting a £19 on the Clinique website it still doesn’t break the bank!

I’m hitting you with another gel based formulae, but to be honest they work best for me and my break out prone skin. Apply in the morning just after your usual skin routine and before your make-up. The tint shows through a light foundation or for a really bronzed look you can mix with moisturiser.

  1. The Body Shop Drops of Sun

The cheapest of the three, this bronzer is only £12 from The Body Shop.

This is another super easy to use creation from the Body Shop. I first bought the highlighter version of this product and I LOVED it, so I thought it was worth giving the bronzing version a go too. These drops can be applied to bare skin in the morning for a subtle glow, or mixed in with foundation, the more you add the more tanned you look. This product can also be dotted along the cheeks and forehead instead of a bronzer. The drops are easy to blend and can be as subtle or as dramatic depending on how you apply them.

There you have it, my top three tips to staying sun kissed even though you’ve not seen the sun in months.
