Second Semester Means: Step Up Your Style!

The phrase “New Year, New Me” is so unrealistic that during the holidays, it became the subject of several memes, twitter posts, and hilarious vines. It’s a tad cliche to think that just because it’s a new year that you can become a different person. But, what you CAN do is start by making small changes. For example, changing up your wardrobe! You don’t have to go from Preppy to Goth or Boho to Skater overnight, but little by little, take fashion risks and step up your campus style!

Here are some ideas for fashion risks:

  1. The Choker

This is one of my favorite fashion risks I plan on taking in 2015. Don’t think you can pull it off? Wear this risk, or any of the rest, a lot when you’re by yourself. Get so comfortable with your accessory or item of clothing that you fall in love with it, and when you finally decide to go public, you won’t care about the “weird” looks or jokey, judgy comments from your friends. Chokers rule.

     2. A Fun New Hairstyle, The Half Bun!

This is one of my favorite hairstyles and I’m so happy to share it with you all! I get inspired by almost everything, including streetstyle found in other countries. A while ago I noticed that this style, among others, was popping up all over my favorite countries (Sweden, England,Denmark, etc.) This style is super chill and versatile. You can rock it with sweats, a dress, leather, pretty much anything. With this edgy hairstyle, it’s up to you whether you want to dress it up or down using your makeup or outfit.

3. Faux Fur Clutch

These are the greatest invention! Its glamorous without trying too hard or destroying your wallet, but it also isn’t above being found in a chipotle! PLUS you can give it a stuffed animal style squeeze when your date stands you up…again.

4. #Simplicity!

You guys! I can’t tell you how classic and necessary it is to have a plain white t shirt. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a good print, but every once in a while, a white t shirt and blue jeans can really wow a crowd. Because the main parts of the outfit are so simple, that gives you all the freedom to add a pop of color with your accessories!

I hope at least one of these ideas caught your attention. I challenge you to step up your style this semester! Remember, no risk, no reward.
