5 Budget friendly Spring Break ideas!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Le Moyne chapter.

1. Let’s Start With The Basics… Mexico!

–  Cancun is the classic Spring Break spot. The city knows this and has tons of deals for college students. It’s home to MTVs Spring Break this year, so you’ll never be too far away from a party. Stick with your friends and this hot spot will be one of the highlights of your college years! Check out some of these budget hotels in Cancun, Mexico :

2. If you LOVE the winter…

–  Love snowboarding, skiing, and the winter olympics? Do you love the idea of shredding down mountains and then snuggling up to a fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa and a blanket? If you answered yes to any of those, a mountain resort may be your perfect spring break destination! Below you’ll find awesome resorts that won’t obliterate your bank:

3. World Traveler (splurge!)

–  EF College Break gives college students the opportunity to travel the world alone (with a group of other solo students) or with friends during spring and summer break. In high school, I got to go to Italy with EF through a school trip, but with college break, no adults are needed! EF gives you a planned itinerary before even signing up. A typical day includes a hotel breakfast, sightseeing, a guided tour, and free time at night. Exploring a beautiful city at night, soaking up all the culture (and food); EF college break sounds like a dream. I’m definitely saving up for a summer trip!

P.S. If that schedule seems too planned out, EF has “backpacking trips” to Europe and Asia. Hotels and meals are provided like the regular EF trips, but backpacking trips are a little more “go with the flow” and about discovering every single chance you get!

4. Give Back

– Now, if you don’t feel like traveling to a third world country with little to no accommodations and interacting with locals, it DOESN’T make you a bad person! But, if you feel like having a culture shock while simultaneously helping out people who need it most, a service trip is perfect for you. Take a look at how you can give back this spring break!

5. *Queue the theme song to the O.C.*

– Who wouldn’t want to go to Cali for spring break? California has cities for every type of spring breaker. If you want to come back home with a picture of you and your favorite celeb, hit up L.A. and get on the TMZ tour bus. If you’re at the legal drinking age and feeling classy, check out hotels near a winery up in Napa Valley. And, if you’re just looking for plain old sand and sun, California has no shortage of beaches (Laguna, duh!) Believe it or not, there are in fact affordable hotels the Golden State:
