What Kind of Roommate Are You?!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

With Lasell’s annual room draw around the corner, the selection of finding the perfect roommates that best suit your personalities is crucial now more than ever. With this guide’s help, you will be able to self-evaluate, and figure out which type of roommate category you best belong to!

  • The “Slob”

Are there more important things going on in your life that you’d rather focus your time and attention on? Is the absence of your mom the reason why you have dirty plates and clothes scattered throughout your dorm room? Well, if either of these questions applies to you, then look no further because you are definitely a slob! Being a slob isn’t necessarily a bad thing; you may still be able to wake up, go to class, and turn in all of your assignments without even realizing that there has been a cluster of dirty underwear on your desk or a decomposing banana peel under your pillow. No matter how many times your roommate sprays that febreeze, it’s a fact that you’re already set in your ways! My best advice to you for room draw is to make sure your future roomie(s) don’t have any problems with your pig-like behavior.

  • The “Neat Freak”

A wise man once said, “If things can’t be perfect, they can be as close to perfect as possible.” With that being said, if you need to have your room arranged in a particular way that does not involve socks lying on the ground for more than five minutes, you’re most likely a neat freak! As a neat freak, you cannot think straight without sweeping up that little bit of dirt on the ground or color-coordinating your shirts in your closet. Some may say you have OCD; others may say that it’s either your way or the highway. You don’t need to deal with your roommate’s messes because you have your own messes to clean up after! Neat freaks have a vision in mind of how they like things done. You treat your living space likes it’s your very own Buckingham Palace. Make sure with the upcoming room draw that your future roommates know that it’s your world and they’re just living in it!

  • The “Early Bird”

Do you prefer those 8 a.m. classes? Does going to bed at no later than 10 p.m. sound ideal to you? If so, you are most like an early bird. You love to wake up just as the sun does and get a fresh start to your day! Maybe you love to do a special exercise before you start your day or you have a routine coffee run, whether it be either of those two, you definitely end up getting your worm. Who needs to sleep in when you can make the best of your day by squeezing all the time out of it that you can!

  • The “Night Owl”

If staying up until all hours of the night is your forte, then look no further because you’re definitely a night owl! Late night snacks, staying out to 3 a.m. every Saturday, starting your homework at around eleven at night all classify you as a total all-nighter. Your roommate’s sleep schedule doesn’t stop you from doing what you need in order to fulfill your day! Whether it is binge watching a new series on Netflix or writing that paper due the following day, you are able to tap in completely to your nocturnal side. Fair warning: make sure that your roommate is most definitely not an “early bird” or things may get messy!
