The Unicorn Frappuccino Sweeping Social Media

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

You’ve probably all heard of the drink that was sweeping the Starbucks community: The Unicorn Frappuccino.  This totally Instagrammable drink is the newest fad taking over social media with trending hashtags and pictures on every app you look at.  This drink looks just as magical as it sounds and, as you sip it, it not only changes color, but flavor as well.

The drink definitely is as sugary as it looks (a whopping 59 grams of sugar), with an assortment of syrups and sauces as its core ingredients to give its signature color and flavor.  With Mango and Passion Fruit Juice Concentrate mixed into the drink, it starts off very sweet and fruity. However, when you get to the bottom, it transforms to tasting sour.

All of the drinks are made just like any other Frappuccino, with whole milk and whipped cream, but if you’re health-conscious, you can change the type of milk or go without whipped cream.  The best part about the limited edition Unicorn Frappuccino? Definitely the pink and blue “fairy powders” dusted on the whipped cream.

The trend was so popular that if you didn’t get it in the first few days, you most likely missed out.  Most stores within hours were sold out of their drinks and most customers were disappointed.  You can almost say it’s almost as hard to find as the mythical creature it was named after…

The limited edition Frappuccino was in stores from April 19th to April 23rd.
