Sexposed: Walk of Champs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

We live in a modern world where hooking up and wandering home at two in the morning has become a norm in college culture. But what happens if we don’t decide to wander home right after? After a night of close knit snuggles or, let’s face it, the awkward ‘should I sleep on my back and push him into the wall or do we spoon so I can make his arm fall asleep’, it’s time to face the music. Walking back at eight in the morning, or a touch earlier, depending on any number of variables, can be a bit embarrassing. No matter if it’s with a long term love or late night mistake, the walk of shame can be, well, shameful. And for those of us who are incapable of embracing the early morning stares from any number of Newton society, here are some things to keep in mind.

Don’t wear the most obvious ‘going out’ clothes out if there are plans or possibilities of hooking up. Stick with the basics. Leggings are always a good choice. Not only are they acceptable day wear, but they’re comfy to sleep in. Plus leggings make 95% of butts look even more fantastic. Also make sure to avoid heels. Try to walk anywhere after getting two hours of sleep in double platform stilettos is just a bit amateur.

Do yourself a favor and check the makeup. Nothing is more embarrassing than rushing across campus looking like a raccoon that just Frenched a clown. No need to reapply, just swipe away the smudge and be on your merry way. And while you’re looking, check the hair too. Give thanks to the messy bun. It is our best friend.

Don’t look guilty. Act completely normal. People really have no idea where you’re coming from. You could’ve been working a night shift at one of your three jobs, or helping take care of a friend who was too drunk to take care of themselves. Nobody is actually going to know what happened last night just by seeing you walk through Einstein’s before it actually opens.

But above all, remember that there is nothing to actually be ashamed of. Wherever the night happened to lead you just makes another great (or hilariously humiliating) story for the next “never have I ever” round with your girlfriends. Walk tall, walk proud and remember, nothings shameful, unless you let it be.

Happy Hunting!
