On Oct. 11, 2017, the world celebrated the International Day of the Girl. This is a movement based on observation and awareness to support more opportunities for women, and becoming aware of the disadvantages women face due to inequality. The Global Goals YouTube channel released a video called Freedom- International Day of the Girl. Using the song Freedom by Beyonce, it featured young girls from all over the world performing to the song. Statistics at the end of the video showed some very moving facts. For example, one in four females are married as a child.
The video itself is so moving on its own, but the facts and statistics that back up the video prove some powerful points. It’s such a shock even after all the fight for women’s equality that to this day we suffer from so many disadvantages. It’s important for everyone to watch and realize there are many girls who suffer just because they are girls.
